What's everyone's favorite 3-D platforming game? I still feel that Banjo-Kazooie is my favorite...it improved on Mario 64 in graphics, gameplay, sheer fun with the absurdly amusing characters, and the overall story was better. I loved Mario 64 when it came out and beat it over and over again, but BK has still held my attention as the best. The "Lair" was flawless and engrossing, the variety in the worlds was awesome, and Grunty's rhyming and continual taunts of BK made a much more compelling villian than Bowser in Mario 64.

What does everyone else think?

For the record, I think SMG will be the best 3-D platformer ever, but hopefully this thread sparks some good debate.
Definitly Super Mario 64 for me.

But ino Galaxy will instantly be the best. Big Grin
I've never been a huge fan of 3-d platformers, but Psychonauts (if that counts) would be high up there, as would Prince of Persia (Sands of Time). The hidden levels (linear pure platforming levels) in Super Mario Sunshine were great, probably my favorite 3-d platforming to date.

I had never heard of Psychonauts before you mentioned it, so I did some research. It looks like I would really like that game, particularly since the Grim Fandango team helped work on it and it has some Rare type humor.

As for Prince of Persia, I don't know if I'd call it a platformer, but I loved it as well. I'm actually playing Two Thrones now, and so far it's been ok, but not Sands of Time great.

Super Mario 64 is my favourite, closely followed by Banjo-Kazooie.

Super Mario Sunshine was garbage.
i guess i'd go w/ mario 64, but i haven't really been much of a platformer gamer since they went 3d. but nights into dreams would be a close second for me if you consider it a 3d platformer (although it is technically 2.5d).
Psychonauts is at least 3x better than any other 3D platformer, ever.

Absolutely no contest.
