This is relying on the idea that the PS3 was hampered by the lack of compelling titles at its launch coupled with the high entry price. Since both of those are pretty much nonsense now, the sales figures are already looking decisively different.

Tech goes on to explain how the Halo effect is starting to wear off of the 360 and the PS3 has been consistently outselling its number one rival in the UK. After the price cut of the PS3, sales doubled from about 5,000 to nearly 12,000 per week. It's interesting, but the PS3 is really starting to get into a comfortable number two position everywhere but the US. The Wii is getting a little nervous, as the gap between sales with the PS3 is continuing to narrow as well. Originally 6-to-1, the gap has shrunk down to 2-to-1. In time, it may shrink to an even more favorable gap for Sony, but for now, the race is getting closer.

its good to see Sony finally getting things straight then. its also nice to actually see a PS3 game in the top 5 software sales for this week (ratchet and clank selling 97k according to vgchartz)

I doubt this will happen. The US is a huge market and the PS3 is doing TERRIBLY here

as much as i'm a big sony basher... this does look promising for SCEA.

Microsoft i think relied on halo 3 as it's messiah to blow sony out of the watter but sony is still hanging on.

Now it's time for Sony to land a counter attack and soon, you might see more of a PSWii croud than a Wii60 croud

I agree, and it now seems that Sony's head is in the right place with the price cuts and the new advertising. Games like Ratchet and Clank will do wonders for the system, but now we need to see more AAA games like that coming out and more often.

You need good games to sell a system. PS3 doesn't have that.

PS3 needs MGS4 to get into a steady position.

360 + Halo 3 could get another boost come Christmas time.

Its a little early to get hopeful. But yes... Sony has turned around their consoles a few times now so its far from impossible. I just don't they deserve to be in front yet.
