note in advance: i don't want this to happen, im just saying that it is feasible.
i'd say along the lines of the MMORPG, there'd be plenty of characters and races in the universe for it to work. you wouldn't take on the role of say Medli or Makar, or Malon or Talon, or Ruto or Gongoron...but you'd take on the role of one of the others from their village or town. There are plenty of "baddies" that people could take the dark side if they wanted, too. It'd be interesting how they'd encorporate the races from each game and bring them all together in one universe...if you chose to be a Minish how would what you do to someone or something affect them, what could you do as an Anouki...if there's enough thought put into it, it could work. not saying that i want it to happen, but it has everything (characters, races, good/evil, extensive landscapes, even the leveling up part...only instead of just gaining a heart, youd gain other stats as well) that it would need should they decide to give it a shot.
with the whole "Ganon isn't the main antagonist" - we already have games like that. Take PH for example; Ganon isn't even taken into consideration, it's just Bellum. no more Ganon =/= the end of the series. I've been noticing how he kind of takes a back seat in games now, compared to what he was like in the past. He doesn't do all the dirty work anymore; now he's got Vaati, Zant...he lends them his power, and lets them take care of things while he stays in the dark, only becoming a major issue once they're dealt with or he puts his final plan into action. this is so much different from LttP, where we know right from the beginning that Ganon is the one that created the dark world and trapped the maidens. If its true that Ganon is going to be taken out of the storyline, i'd say they've hinted at it for a while now. i dont remember where i read this, but while Link and Zelda keep getting reincarnated into newer bodies as time passes, Ganon remains the same Ganon throughout the entire timeline. His time has begun to end (or has it already ended?)...
