Commercials aren't supposed to cater to those who are already going to buy the product, so I say keep the casual gamers catered because I don't need catering. I don't even watch the commericals, so quite frankly I don't care for how the commercial is. From the videos I've seen it looks like a very good game and (sorry) I think complaining about the commercial is just being nitpicky. I don't mean to offend anyone, I mean it's just a commercial for those who have the strongest chance of not buying it.
@ Kin, I don't think Nintendo is sitting there wondering how to appease the small section of gamers wondering whether or not they're gonna buy the game based on a commercial. I'm thinking they're trying to reach casual gamers because they know that hardcore gamers know what Mario is and how good his games are. Another commercial = more money + effort. Why waste money when you know your game will be a colossal hit anyway?
I don't think the commerical is that bad. I mean, it's just like all the others they've made for the Wii. Why do we need commercials? I already know I want the game. Hell, it's already paid for. I don't need a commercial. The casual crowd DOES. Makes perfect sense IMO.
casual gamers will not go on the internet and watch all the trailers and read Hands-On like 'hardcore' gamers will. Nintendo doesn't need to advertise to their core crowd cause they're going to buy the game anyway...
But they do need to advertise to the core crowd. Theres a lot of gamers that own 360's and ps3's and not a wii cuz they think its a child's console. Sure the core wii owners know about galaxy and how its gonna be plain awesome but the others don't have a clue about galaxy and that commercial doesn't make the game look like a must have title, which it is.
Im sorry, and i dont want to make this rude, but this conversation is stupid/lame/unnecessary. the mere fact that your complaining about the commercial tells me and Nintendo that they dont need to advertise to You! but the people they do need to advertise to is the 90% of wii owners who arent hardcore gamers and dont know what Brawl is. so yes there going to make a commercial that appeals to them, and FYI Wii commercials have been out for over a year now, all with the same style as the originals, and Nintendo hasnt changed them yet, which means they must be doing something right.
As for the people who have PS3's and 360's and think Wii is for kids, either one of two things is gonna happen with this small amount of people, either they already know what brawl is and do or do not like it enough to buy the system. and the other (IMO) isnt going to go out and buy a 250 system just because one game looks like it isnt for kids.
i don't know why you brought up brawl, where talking about galaxy.
And more then 10% of wii owners are core gamers...
And your last sentence is that wii has only one game that isn't for kids....I'm assuming your talking about brawl cuz u mentioned it b4. And that is my whole point exactly. They don't think the system is worth buying for 1 game, cuz they don't know about other games. I didn't see one commercial for mp3, and thats a great game. If they start advertising these games to the core crowd of other systems, maybe they will realize that wii has more then just one game and it's worth buying.
ok, Sorry i did say brawl in the last post, but that would be interchangable with Galaxy. and yes it they made commercials that showed more core games, im sure that a few more people would buy the system, but i would bet that a lot more casual gamers are gonna pick this up then those who changed there mind about it being to casual, think of the few teenagers who dont get a wii because its for kids, Vs. the countless number of Soccer moms who see this and think it will be perfect for there kids for Christmas, it all comes down to sales and money.
Sunshine was just Mario 64 with FLUDD. And FLUDD sucked hardcore. The game was short. Bowser was even easier than ever. The game just wasn't interesting.
And god damnit Nintendo. Drop this casual trash. Granted, Mario is kind of a game you can aim at casuals. But don't you DARE do this to Smash.
after seeing this commercial and more clips, I'm starting to wonder if they'll be a motion sickness warning at the beginning of the game...I know that sounds funny, but I'm not kidding.
That advert was just terrible. The new PS3 adverts make Nintendo's adverts look like crap.
That advert kind of makes the game look lame.
I saw that yesterday and it was really good. It showed current and upcoming titles and even threw in Blu-ray. It was like transformers how kept changing.

But say there was another version aimed towards us and those undecided about getting Galaxy. And there's no way you would be able to justify a Brawl ad like that one. No casual player would be interested in Smash Bros. for more than 5 minutes.
They could mention the stage builder in it and I have seen non Wii Would Like To Play ads before for a Nintendo game here, hopefully the do that for Brawl. Why is NA the only place that has these commercials?
I'm starting to understand that Nintendo obviously wants to appeal to casuals with the commercials since obviously we don't need the commercials to be aware of the game. Still doesn't mean I can't hate where Nintendo's going because in the long run if they keep up this casual crap it's really gonna hurt the hardcore Wii owner.
Lol, I see Wii as a lure to get everyone into the Nintendo boat, and then next gen when they have the enormous fanbase thanks to motion sensing controls they pull out something truly revolutionary.
And rawrmander, you know you had fun playing excite truck at my house. and wait till mario kart comes out, ill pwn you in rainbow road just like in n64
