I don't care what you thought, I absolutely hated what Nintendo did with the Metroid Prime 3: Corruption commercial, trying to cater to the casual audience when the Metroid series is Nintendo's darkest and most hardcore franchise. So you can understand that I'm not quite happy with the Super Mario Galaxy commercial either. Once again Nintendo takes a game made for it's dedicated audience and instead tries to push towards those people who've probably only heard of Mario in passing. What this does is it fails to convince those who might still have bad memories of Super Mario Sunshine and are on the fence about Galaxy to buy the game.
While Mario fits a bit better with this type of commercial than Metroid I really hope Nintendo doesn't keep this up with other upcoming games, namely Smash Bros. If Nintendo chooses to try and push Brawl to the casual audience, so help me, I will go up to Miyamoto and Iwata myself and get them to snap out of whatever it is they're in.
i dont see what was wrong with the commercial. its no different then how they've advertise every other game. *wonders how Brawl's commercial will look like...bliss *
i see your point, but i dont think the commercial for games should matter to the hardcore gamer cause 9.5 out of 10 times, its not the commercial that'll gets someone sold on buying a game.
Yes but not every hardcore gamer is definitly getting this. But if Nintendo want everyone to get this game then they are not going the right way about it.
Nintendo knows that Wii's audience is constantly expanding with casual gamers and they need a way to attract them to their bigger non Wii Sports, Play, Fit titles. These commercials are the way to do it. Gamers like us already know far more about the game then any commercial would tell us. But it would be nice if they did two different commercial styles.

yea, that's what i meant, the commercials arent aimed towards us.
But say there was another version aimed towards us and those undecided about getting Galaxy. And there's no way you would be able to justify a Brawl ad like that one. No casual player would be interested in Smash Bros. for more than 5 minutes.

Then I would consider letting the employees in Nintendo's marketing section out of their cages, but I don't think it'll happen soon.

I absolutely agree. Brawl in an ad like that would just phail miserably. :l
Besides, whether or not they aimed it at casual gamers, there's a VERY SMALL chance they'll like it anyway. (Maybe 5% will like it.)
