Like I said before, everyone will have to be alive at the end in some form to have a fighting chance at Nintendo accepting it. BTW, with your blog, is it going to be a daily update thing like smashbros dojo? Big Grin

How about date tracking? Like, at Xmas time it snows.... and stuff?

Nah. Not in an adventure game like Zelda.

The more I read the idea, the more I think it should be an IP.

You can really make this into a good IP, the plot so far is great, the fallen hero seeking redemption... (Love it!)
You're just taking the easy way out by using names and characters we are already familiar with, so you don't have to do the whole player-character relationship deal.

If you really can't do it, there are countless people available to create new races, a world, source of magic, characters, everythign you need to create a real world, for this new IP.

You can keep doing this as a Zelda game, but keep in mind of ways to transer this into an IP... seriously, it could be great.

EDIT: as for Link talking.. I donno, could work I guess, but him not talking sorta makes you feel more like you are him. Take Half-Life.. Gordon Freeman doesn't talk.. but thats in first person...
That's Miyamoto's argument to not giving Link a voice since he wants the player to feel like they're actually part of the game. A change from Twilight Princess I would think of would be having your aim follow the cursor like in Corruption control style and not need to survey left and right with the nunchuk. That was pretty stupid on Nintendo's part and it really showed that Twilight Princess was nothing more than a GameCube port with waggle and IR.
That didn't mean he couldn't VA the other characters...
i think the story rocks out loud but the whole corruption thing is a bit overdone
Like Corruption, even though that left me wanting Samus with a voice.

Not at all. But I guess he feels that if he does VA the others people will want him to do the same for Link. Not to mention that putting voice acting into Corruption was due to Retro pushing Nintendo on the issue. So unless Nintendo hands Zelda over to Retro as well, I doubt voice acting will be a big issue with them. Which is a shame because in the many times I've replayed the last fights with Ganondorf and it's great cut scenes, they are really ruined by the fact that you need to read what's being said. Every time I imagine how awesome that scene would have been if Nintendo hadn't been stubborn and had decided to put in some voice work.

Some All voice work.

Seriously Nintendo. Even the Final Fantasy franchise has essentially ditched the name the character thing and embraced the next step, voice acting.

Get onto it!
I think voice acting is something it needs, as for the whole name the character thing I honestly wouldn't care because I always call my character Link anyway and I mean he's known as Link everywhere, even in the instruction booklets etc so there's no reason for him not to have voice acting. As for making it and IP it's definitely an option, if it ever comes to a time where it's not going to make it as a Zelda game for sure it would be fairly easy to drop the Zelda, just call it Serenity's Edge and change a few bits around. Hopeuflly it does end up as a Zelda game though Big Grin. As for the blog I definitely won't be updating it everyday, maybe once a week or so, I'll make a post here when I update it so that you know. I'm still just wondering about how much to reveal, because if it does make it as a game or a film one day I don't want too much of it to be known already because it would spoil it.

As for the weather idea I don't know whether having it reflect weather in reality would be the best thing but it would be cool to perhaps have seasons change and things like that as the story progresses. There could always be an option in the menu for it to change according to the real world if that's what people wanted.

Anyway I have a headache at the moment so I think I'll leave it at that. Thanks again everyone Smile

Or maybe Link gets killed, and then directly after a new boy/Link answers the call to save the world. Plot Twist!!1!

Sounds like my first post...
Anyway, listin to this:

No - have Zelda die, and the body put in a cursed place so that Link will visit the twilight world and find both princesses talking there.

Get a twighlight version of your sword, and explore the twilight to find a way to step into the light realm again.

When Link enters the light world, the twilight sword will lead Link to a sacred grove, which will bless the sword so that it cuts through darkness.

Link will need to collect all the tears of light and all the melodies for his ocarina, obtained in a mountain water temple.

After that, he would go to each sacred spring grove and use the tears of light - and activate them with the appropriate melody encoded on a rock nearby.

Grove by grove he lays seige to Gannondorf, and then breaks into the castle to knock his piece of the triforce off of Gannondorf's other gauntlet, but then be teleported somewhere else.

In this other place he will find what he needs to bless Zelda's burial place, and perform the ceremony in the place between worlds to bring back Zelda.

Then he will obviously have to fight Gannondorf and whoop his evil backside again.

Although that kinda seems like an extension of the fairie ponds, but this guy does seem to be aiming for a sequel of Twilight Princess.

I just think that sounds a bit too similar to Twilight Princess, the point of Serenity's Edge is to make Zelda new again. Heaps of people on other sites have been talking about this idea and saying that it's basically not a Zelda game because it's different, I disagree, it's an evolution of the series. I'm not trying to screw with it because I love the Zelda series, I just think it needs a bit of a new direction because it is starting to get a little repetitive.

I've also posted a new entry on the blog, you can read it here

Hope it makes sense Smile
That would be a whole diffrent game anyway, and wouldn't Nintendo want a sequel to TP? I'd rather see SE, but Nintendo doesn't care what I think as long as they get money. Now, for SE, I was thinking that we should introduce a new land, and since it's part sequel to windwaker/ph, you would have to get a ship to sail to Hyrule. There would be plenty of hidden islands and sea caves, and we could reintroduce the fairy pond from LttP(link to the past) where you throw in something and get something better in return.
If you don't mind, I can start working on spinning it into an IP.

Yeah sure go nuts!!! The more I think about it the more I like the idea of this as an IP...although it'd still be awesome in the Zelda Universe.

As for a new location I was thinking the same thing, Link starts off in Hyrule but then because of his "downfall" he flees from the land to another kingdom but then eventually returns to Hyrule. It would be cool to maybe have an ocean or river system or something that he could get a ship down but I see it more as a prequel to Wind Waker rather than a sequel so there shouldn't be a huge ocean. I like the ideas though so keep them coming Smile

Ok, as for spinning it, I know this is most likely not the way you're going but...

after the flash of the Master sword breaking, and his part of the triforce fading away, white light blinds him everywhere. He awakes in a forest (or house, not to sure which would be better) Unsure whether it was a dream, or really happened and you just ran off.

Depending on how you play the game, it either turns out to be the past (it happened) or, its the future, and thats how the game ends (thus leaving it open for a sequal, or ending it their, the downfall of a hero)

I love these kind of endings that can be interpreted in different ways.
I like the idea of having seasons progress as you go through the story. That would be cool to see. Then I thought about having season specific events but realised that wouldn't work, unless there was a system where days changed every 10 mins, and season changed every 5 hours or something like that. Unless this was a REALLY long game there's no way to put season in well that way. And The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons already did that in a way.
I'm still game for my first idea, with the character being in another land. Note: on wii will add details later
