I don't know whether to get a i pod or a Zune for Christmas...
I really need a music player of some kind and need to know which is the better deal and better quality...
thanks guys
i got a 80G zune

Ask D4rk and he'll tell you iPod till his last breath.
sc7 will do the same for Zune.
I've personally just seen iPods as over priced social statements disguised as MP3 players. I always find something just as good at a lower price.
No creative love XD
I'd go with the ZUNE in your crazily tiny sample size.
iPod.... but i'm an apple fanboy.. so what do i know lol?

you sound like me lmao
i also have those cheap made in china mp4 players which i secretly love.....
Trust me on this, get either a Zune, or a third party MP4 player, which could save you a lot of money, and is usually easier to use.
iTunes on Windows is CRAP, so unless you have a Mac, managing the music library easily becomes a nightmare. The Zune software is far more refined, and the hardware is more reliable/less prone to scratches.
I'd only recommend the iPod touch if I had to recommend any, and that's because it's a tech-device more than media player. If you're in just for an A/V playback device, the Zune gets the nod from me.
I have to agree with sc7
iTunes is pure bloatware.
but I've got a high spec'd pc so it doesn't effect me too much

It's funny, because Microsoft makes decent Mac software (Office/Messenger), but Apple's ports to Windows are always un native, feel out of place, bloated/slow, you name it.
iTunes is really good on Macs, and even if they left the GUI, they could make it better on Windows. I'd love to know why it's such a bear on Windows.

The main issue that I can see is the DirectX implementation of coverflow, instead of using a disk cache of all the covers, it caches them all in RAM and leaves windows to decide when to put it into the pagefile, which can be some-time never, because if you're listening to music it's going to have constant cpu usage and therefore windows will be reluctant to start ditching its memory resources.
There was actually a mod at one point that put some basic memory management into the software (along with skins and lots of other nifty things) but the developer abandoned it, so it's not worked since iTunes 7
You can get a 30gb refurb Zune on Woot.com for 80 bucks today.
sounds like zune for me because i have a PC and i don't have very much money!
Thanks guys
I've bought refurbished before and things worked out for me. That's not always a bad route to go if you're looking to save even more money.
I would tell you to get an iPod, iTouch, or iPhone since I own two of the three and love them but since you are heading towards the Zune bandwagon you might want to know that the Zune 2 hit today so you may want to look into it.
I love both models. I have the 80G Classic and I am one of the few people not having issues with it freezing up and slowing the computer.
The zune has a beautiful screen and you can turn it to the side, and the visuals are nice on the menus.
The newer iPods have nice visuals too, and iTunes is a fun store to use. I enjoy mine.
I highly recommend that you go to the store where they have them on display (best buy, etc) and play with both. Then you can decide what one you like the best.

I know Coverflow is terrible with Dx (What can you do when MS cripples OGL for Windows), but still, even with CF off, iTunes is still a bit of a laggard.
The thing I have to ask is why you would need to carry that much music around with you everywhere you go? I have my iPhone and it has some music and videos on it, but aside from when I flew to E4A, I've rarely used the iPod features on it. If it wasn't for the web browser rendering and intuitive GUI, I would seriously ditch it.
well, the thing is that I listen to music whenever I'm going from A to B.
And I never know what I'm going to be listening to, so it's nice to know I can listen to anything, wherever.
