To whom it may concern:

I learned of the available positions through online research on your
Canadian website. From my research on your web site, I believe there
would be a good fit between my skills and interests and your needs. I
am interested in a position at EB Games because I have been playing
video games all my life, and as a owner of two out of the three "Next
Gen" consoles, and multiple "Old Gen" consoles i have a vast database
of knowledge in this field.

As a video game enthusiast, I am very knowledgeable in the field of
video games. Some of my electronic accomplishments include, reaching
the top 100 in Halo 2, and more recently claiming the title of
WinnipegHeights.com Halo 3 champion. Aside from Halo and the FPS genre
i love and play almost all video games i am faced with, my favorites
being any Mario titles, Zelda titles, Smash Bros Titles, Fable, Final
Fantasy Titles, Kingdom Hearts title (the list can go on for quite a
while). My responsibilities as a competitive Halo gamer includes
playing for the win, and playing every day to become the best i can
be. Aside from being a competitive Halo gamer i am also a recreational
gamer, i enjoy games which have great game play and story line over
graphics (though a combination is preferred). I have a strong
background in electronic entertainment, competitive electronic
entertainment, and recreational electronic entertainment, and believe
that these skills would benefit EB games as it will allow me to meet
the needs of any costumer on any product. Enclosed is my resume which
further outlines my qualifications.

My qualifications make me well suited for all areas in which EB games
deals. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss a position with
you, and will contact you in a week or ten days to answer any
questions you may have and to see if you need any other information
from me. If i aquire the position, i will work my hardest to benefit
EB Games and in turn its parent company GameStop by delivering
outstanding costumer service, which will in turn lead to a profound EB
Games experience, thank you for your consideration.
i took the whole "im a big gamer so hire me" approach, was it to much or just right, i thought it was ok but tell me your comments are much appreciated

Did Nate just write a serious letter...?_?

It's good, I think you are doing the whole competitive gamer and the lists too much but it does show you have a vast knowledge and interest in the industry.

Your better off figuring out the persons name.

rememeber that old thread about how people hate being game staff?

Personally, sounds more like your applying to be a professional game player (like those CS:S people...) then an EB games clerk. Mentioning how good you are at a game doesn't let them know your knowlegde about games.

So, your first half of the second paragraph sorta diverges from the topic at hand here. Trying to show why you should be a clerk. They need people able to handle unruly and idiotic customers, not play their demo stands xD

Exactly what i was gonna say!

as a former manager, you dont want to just mention your knowledge. also offer some of your skills as a SALES PERSON

to honest, gamestop isnt about the games at all. but youll see once you start
I think it was amazing.
thank god i mustered up the courage to tell my friend sorry im swamped with my real job.....i jsut felt so bad i had to say yes but declined at the "initial interview"

anyways, always state how well you interact with people and emphasize on yoru social skills. then put them into play on how you can make the company profit and florish with your attributes.

as for the gaming aspect, i think its a little over kill. most people that sign up for the position are already avid gamers or just need a job and they got hired due to previous sales experience.

always attach a resume as well. state all your prior job experinces and what you do in school. trust me they do look and they do want to know!

that goes for any job. be professional and always state how your skills in the real world can really shine working for XYZ organization

hope that helps Smile
ya, i think im going to tone down the "pro gamer" aspect lol thanksguys and keep hem coming! also ill be adding more of how i can help the company
Pretty much what they said. Talk less about how great of a gamer you are (it probably doesn't matter to them at all anyways) and more about your social skills and how well you could interact with customers.
i okay, like you said you need to fix some grammar mistakes.

yep we have EB games, babbages, funcoland, and gamestop

gamestop owns all of those stores AFAIK

another thing, brando- when you fill out resumes online and attach a coverletter/resume, youre not always gunna know who its going to be sent to/read. sure itll be the district manager but you dont know for what location and which DM will read it if theres more than one

ya but gamestop is way more known, my cousin doesnt know what eb games is and he live in NYC .he knows what gamestop is tho theres liek 4 in one mall.

canada sure does things a lot differently. we just go in, ask for an application, fill it out, and pray they call back.

and yeah, like others said. get rid of all your gaming stats and instead mention your enthusiasm for gaming in a way that would benefit the store and customers.
