The Cappin' needs help from all you techies out there! (I am looking at you d4rk, baron, sc77 (mainly d4rk, British ftw).)
I am going to be purchasing a new laptop for £350 very soon, it has to be pre-built...does anyone know of a good laptop that I could purchase at this price + I want to be able to play UT04 on it.
im assuming you mean by ut04, unreal tournament 2004, not unreal tournment 4 becuase when that comes out i highly doubt any laptop will be able to handle it, (well maybe some but not in that price range)
and if your looking just to play that game something with these specs will be way more than enough
baisically get a lappy thats higher than p4 and at least 512 ram and youll be ok and you should be able to get much more with that amount (i think) my intel core duo 1 gig ram lappy only cost me 699 canadian so ya.. just look for those specs, sorrry im not from uk|
unreal tournament 2004 is a really really baisic game, should run on almost any of the newer laptop models so long as theyre not shiza.

Awesome, thanks for the help but I am still kind of unsure.
So basically, I just want to go for higher then 512 RAM with a decent processor and graphic card?
Anyone know of a model in my price range capable of playing this game pretty good?
Urgh, make sure it has 2GB of RAM if possible. RAM is cheap dude. And get an Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo Processor. If you're getting a laptop you're better getting something future-proofed or else you'll regret it.

Laptops are always changing...apart from E systems..they have edwardian laptops
Could you find me a model in my price range with your specs? It has to be pre-built.
I had some good times with advent too.
Talk to Joker. That guy is a god of deals!
And LZ, you are truly on the ball today....

Joker is also foreign =/
That's why d4rk would add a touch of awesomesauce to this thread, he knows his stuff and is british so will have price range ideas.
ya thats why i havent suggested where to buy from and stuff, but ya as you said UT04 i gave to the minimum requirements up there, it never hurts to be future proof like Cosmic said.
Blah that site is blocked, curse me being at work. I'll help where i can but the price range thing may be tough since i'm not so familiar with you currency, just us and canadian
I'll take a look at that link when i get home too to see what that looks like. But necessities are 2gb of ram, i think you can only get a 128mb vid card now but get a 256mb for future-proofing if you can afford it. Also in regards to future-proofing make sure to get a core 2 duo which someone mentioned. Also are you talking about playing UT2004 or the new UT3?
Ohhh Lookie what I found
Thoughts on that laptop?
that laptop will be more than enoguh to play UT04 cappin, but it doesnt specify what type of processor it just just the manufacturer. lol if its a pentium i would suggest not buying it its just not worth it. look for a Centrino, (with core duo or core 2 duo) its the best for battery life as well for preformance, (well other than the beatsly pc IE quad core, stuff but those arent easily available/affordable/efficient in lappys yet.)
also if you were to get a windows vista laptop i would suggest either not getting one, or downgrading to xp when you get it as windows vista is a ram whore, i know 1gb of ram seems like alot but after vista is done iwth it youll only have like 512 avaible. (but like i said you will still be able to play UT04 with vista on this lappy easily just for other games like CS:S, it might nuke) nuke meaning: not run or look proper.
but since you havent asked much other questions, to answer your first question, that laptop will be more than enough to run UT04 smoothly. (so long as its Pentium 3 or higher cause they dont say lol)

Unreal 2004.
Thanks for the advice (Yes I am also looking at you Nate).
I am only available to spend up to £400 and buy from a British manufacture =/
Places like dell.co.uk or pcworld.co.uk.
I'd agree with the others and say get a Core 2 Duo, 2 gig of ram (it's cheap like CZQMFG said), a great graphics card (ask Dark). I also need to get a new one but doubt it will be anytime soon... I want to play CRYSIS! T_T

I only have a small selection to choose from and it has to be pre-built so it is difficult to find.
and i doubt that even a core 2 duo 2 gigs ram can play crysis (on a lappy) people are having problems with it on pc's n/m lappys

I have no problem with crysis on my core 2 with 2gb ram, the only time I have problems is with online mp, and that is due to server lag not network or vid lag.
Yeah, they have some laptops out there that can play them. I can almost play it but almost isn't good enough >.<
Cough Cough
Back to my troubles and revert Crysis talk to the Crysis thread.
I don't want to play Crysis, I want a nice working laptop that could handle UT04.
350.
man.
you like a challenge don't you...
Go for a Core 2 Duo deffo
1GB of ram minimum
and get some kind of ATI or GeForce Graphics.
I'd love to help more, but the fact it, you shouldn't be trying to buy a decent laptop for only £350
I'll be spending nearly a grand to buy something that plays HL2 at medium settings >_<

I think that UT04 and HL2 are in a whole different galaxy, never mind category.
