I have no clue what to expect out of this game, the reviews are average around from 7.5-8.5, and its a RTS.

I'm picking it up tomorrow, but I have no clue what to expect out of the game.

Anyone else getting it?

Tell my info on it.. I hardly know anything about the game.

i played it a bit at EfA. it was actually pretty cool for the brief time i was on it. the mechanics are definitely completely new. you control the characters by selecting them with the stylus then pressing where to go. it kind of turns into an epic, hectic battle to move all your characters into the right location to lead an attack. it's like Starcraft meets FF. i definitely want to check it out at some point

The gameplay is like Starcraft? I never played Starcraft..well I'll find out at 5:30 tomorrow.

Ok, well I got the game, and I'm gonna start a new game anytime soon.

I'll have a half assed Pro's and Con's when I have an hour on the game.

Its luminas Arc, with the words "Final Fantasy" plasted in front of it. xD

Also, the music for this game from FFXII, onto the DS is just awesome.

This game is pretty difficult..I just beat Ba'gamn or something again, and I died twice, I beat him by pretty much doing a kamakazi and winning even though Vaan Was dead. XD

I love this game, i've been playing two hours straight. Its so awesome. especially the music

Mine is wrapped and in the dining room. I can't have it until Monday, my birthday. I also think I got the Link Crossbow game.

It will be worth it, it gives more game time than Mario Galaxy.

I already have 20 hours. but yet 70% done the game.

What I would LOVE to see is Square port FFVII to the DS...I still have the PSone game, but no longer do I have any PS... Capcom did it with RES, so why not? We all know everyone would EAT it up!

The FFVII remake won't be coming anytime soon. lol

Oh I know I'm not talking a remake though...

I'm only talking a port of the PSone version of the game...If anything add an updated menu system so you can drag and drop materia...THAT would be awesome, would it not?

I was out last night looking for games and saw this on shelves... maybe I should pick it up?

It would be ok..but Square is pretty much only for Sony lol

All I can say is

8-4 = Tear Jerker.

For the most part 'yes'. In terms of 3D gaming of course. Not to mention FFVII is basically the catalyst which made PlayStation brand into what it is today. But now, despite Square and Nintendo's former falling out, it is obvious they are working together once again, and if Sony continues to lag behind, I would not be surprised (depending on FFVII contracted licensing terms) if they breached any agreement over the 7 franchise if it proves that it will generate enough profits to counter the action.

With the Wii's current success I wouldn't be surprised if we don't begin seeing a Square-Nintendo renaissance like we once had back in the early to mid 90's.

I still remember talking in middle school to fellow gamers about how awesome the new Final Fantasy was going to be on the N64, only for us to be shocked to find out they took 7 over to Sony instead. That was the only reason I even bought a PS. I'm sure it's old news but has everyone seen the old tech demo for the 64's FF?

Okay, so now to finally bring a little more relevance back to the thread topic. How is the gameplay? From the screens and stylization it almost looked to me as though it might resemble Tactics in some ways...

I'm thinking of putting this game in my Xmas wishlist this year...

What's the gameplay like? Is it turn based fighting or what? I'm kind of skeptical on FF right now since the last one I was TRULY satisfied with was IX...The DS III was OK, but nothing to make me swoon...

as i said before, it's more like Starcraft than FF with some tactics mixed in. you start of with your selected characters, choose one, move it. chose another, move it. link groups to a leader and (try to) move them all together. move army towards enemy, then continue to attack until everything is dead. some tactics are mixed in with summons (which cost a ton to use but are worth it apparently) and healers. nice change of pace that i enjoyed, but i'm sure alot of people will complain about it

You get espers, using Stones/ Or Auracites, and you get the espers you want, and summon them in battle to fight at your side.

Its kinda like tactics, but you don't have to wait.
