Shortly after the PS3 firmware update rolled out, the message boards at the Call of Duty 4 forum began to light up with reports of error messages. Some players reported that they received an error message immediately, while others said they played for as much as two hours before they saw it.
The PS3 version of CoD4 has already had issues with the multiplayer game, including lengthy wait times and connection issues as a result of overwhelmed servers.

Sony definately have to fix this problem, before it happens with any other games that people really like, and then stop working. If this happened too people while playing MGS4, imagine the chaos.

It happens, this is why I think Microsoft has a good system for updates. Twice a year, add fixes, and if necessary, release small patches during for stability only. On something as complex as a game console, these incremental updates can be deadly, as they can break so many things. So if its twice a year, two weeks later, fix the rest, and work on the next. We already saw these issues with Warhawk.
Sony should stop seeding this update immediately.

i did get the 360 version. im just hoping this new patch doesnt fudge something else up. seems like im always updating this thing every time i turn it on.

Makes me wonder what these firmware updates do. We've seen it with Warhawk too, I don't like the idea of firmware updates messing with anything that effects the game.
What are the firmware updates for? What do they usually change? Are they like the Wii updates?
actually i havent had any problems with call of duty 4 online since they fixed the waiting time the new update didnt affect me i played for about 3 hours last night and for about 2 this morning just to see if something would happen but nothing did...so i guess im in the clear...hopefully...

it was actually an issue with infinity wards' servers which they quickly fixed. so the patch wasnt the culprit.
