Stop me if you've heard this one before. Nintendo's released a game with a glitch and is going to replace copies already sold with new ones. If that sounds familiar you probably remember the
game ending glitch in
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Although this isn't quite as bad it poses a problem for those who wish to import data from their
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance save files.
The way it works is you can import your save file from Path of Radiance if you have a GameCube memory card inserted with the save file of a completed game and then stat boots and other such things. The problem is that the game won't accept files that have the difficulty set to easy. You can't even transfer over a normal or hard save file if there's a single easy file on the memory card.
Of course this is easy to work around and it's not like it would keep you from progressing through the game or playing it normally. Just either delete your easy file if you have a normal or hard one you want to send in, or copy it to another card. If however, you only have easy files on your card there is a way for you to eventually get in on what is more or less a built-in cheating feature.
Just like with Twilight Princess discs, Nintendo is offering to replace these buggy copies of Fire Emblem for free by mid-December. All you need to do is get in touch with Nintendo about the issue and leave them your name, address, and phone number, and then send your broken disc to them when asked for it. So you can either wait a month to play the game, or just suck it up and play through it like normal people do; starting at level 1.
Of course this would all be much easier if Nintendo could simply put a patch up on the internet for Fire Emblem owners to download to their Wiis. Really makes you wish there was a hard drive to hold such patches now doesn't it?

yay first post I'm saying ninty as a whole is going strait down no more descent games are gonna come out for months and shipping more that one faulty game (i can think of three off the top of my head(zelda,GH3(not having stereo)and this!)wow that was tree of thees things (())
Haha if you dont mind me saying Naruto. Your completly over reacting, Nintendo are doing great at the moment! The fact you think no good games are coming out for months is all just your opinion. Not fact. Although Nintendo has a problem. Well "2" to be exact; dodgy Zelda glitch and Fire emblem.
Guitar Hero isn't really a problem for me considering I don't care if its mono sound...
But as the article said, giving us a patch to download on our Wiis would of been so much less money. Maybe Nintendo might start to regret about saying no to a hard drive.
yep it was wayyyy to late lmao i had no more coffee so i was lost lol,btw im a huge sound bug (I have 4 42inches (across)(community)speakers(they have 4 speakers in each),2 34.5(across) kla speakers(2 speaker in each) ,a sub, surround sound and 1 mini speaker that's 20 inches (paradigm))

so not having dolby pro logic was ok but will be missed and not having stereo common

oh well we sound geeks will have to settle w/ super loud music ...and the reference to ninty was that look at the Microsoft line up yes they have been out for longer but Wii has more consoles so Nintendo should stand up and be the bigger man and get out of the casual gamer box ....ninja bread man....

...there gonna have t9o face the fact that ppl want more then just manhunt/redsteel(although supper easy)/Zelda TP/and there one jewel that sines mp:3 I'm hoping for brawl to be awesome and from the site it will be but there gonna ave to step it up they can't have a dozen good games...well there's my rant think of it what u will
I wonder if I can cheat, and get a free copy of Fire Emblem XD
You need to already have a copy of the game and send it to them, so no.
What if I say I lost it..and if you don't give me a copy I will cry, and tell the internets that your the worst.
Considering Nintendo's customer service you'd probably get 5 copies.

Darn... I was so hopin to get a free copy. That would've been nice

At least they are replacing them I guess. Bigger thing that stuck out in my mind was the transferring of a gamecube save to the Wii memory. Reminds me of how much I wish I could do that now and this shows that it's somewhat possible. They just need to find a way so that the GC games read the Wii's memory instead of the memory cards and I'd be a much happier man. If only all my GC saves were on the Wii memory and I didn't have to go through all the memory cards (yes, I'm lazy and didn't label them) to find that one save I'm looking for.
That's why I don't always buy a game right away
Good thing mario Galaxy had no problems, whatsoever.

Even still, at this point, an HDD would be optional, and they couldn't expect users to have to purchase an external product to fix a buggy product.
well i guess it doesnt matter if you didnt have Path of Radiance. i just hope there arent dud Brawl games. it worries me that this has happened twice now.

Well at this point no, but Nintendo should've had enough foresight to see the need for more than just 512MB from the very start. Especially now that WiiWare is coming.

Yeah, wouldn't you think they would try to fix it from all games?
No problem for me, haven't got mine yet. They'll probably all be replaced on shelves by then.
Mario Galaxy had a couple of problems... having a stupidly easy story mode (yes, I'm aware it gets harder after 60 stars... whoopdeedoo? I could say the same for MP3) and the camera irritated me at times. It isn't perfect.
This is the advantage of being a PAL gamer. When FE hits our shores all of these issues should be addressed. Pros and cons I suppose.
Yes, a mixed blessing of sorts.
