The game received a 6/10 from IGN, which means the game is passable. As it turns out we all had a right to be worried when we heard that this Wii exclusive SoulCalibur game was leaving it's fighting genre roots. The gmeplay turned out to be repetitive with so so graphics. Why must developers continue to deviate from core of franchise for a Wii rendition (i.e. RE:UC and DQ Swords)?

IGN Closing Comments

Quote:
Nintendo fans may find it hard to go from Soulcalibur II complete with a playable version of Link to a re-imagined sequel that is neither a fighter nor a visual stunner. Namco has been adamant that Legends was designed from the ground up for Wii, but if that's the case, the developer really wasn't very inventive about the best ways to use Nintendo's console - it merely replaced buttons with waggle. The end result is not a bad one, but it's not particularly good either. It's Soulcalibur if it were a repetitive hack-and-slash endeavor without many of the fighters that fans adore. Die-hards may be compelled to play for the unlockables, but if you've never played Soulcalibur before, don't start now.

Darn... I was considering it too. Well, I suppose it might be worth a rent...
Saw this coming. But maybe everyone will learn now that spin-offs are ftl.
Crisis Core? Final Fantasy Tactics? Super Mario RPG? Mario Kart? Not all are ftl.

However, this one? Definitely. They should have kept it a fighting game and just gave it some really unique characters.
Agreed. I say let the adventurers stick to adventuring and the fighters stick to fighting.
Too bad I pre-ordered this and didn't see the bad reviews until it was too late. I guess I'll check it out anyway and tell you guys how it is.
It doesn't hurt to have another opinion, but I really wanted a fighting SoulCalibur game.
You do fight in this. Against NPCs. It's a lot of hacking and slashing so far. I played it a little. But it's like the bad guys just keep popping up from the ground and it never ends. But I get to play as Sigfried or Ivy so far. And I can swap them in and out.
dang. i was thinking of renting this. now i dont have to waste my $5-8 on a crap game
From looking at it in Best Buy it kind of looks like those Dynasty Warrior Games on PS2 which I kind of liked. I guess I may have to rent it............If I ever get bored with TR and go back to my Wii.
i just got it today and i find it really fun actually
Really, what do think of the controls for the game.
there pretty good depending on the way you slash the wiimote will depend on how the guy slashes the sword. and you also get to choose 2 characters to switch between before you go into each level which unlock more as you go on, but its a pretty good tittle i would say its worth the buy if you like soul caliber
I'm probably going for a rent or cheap buy, in the $20 range if at all possible.
