Nintendo of America has just revealed that Wii has sold 650,000 units in the last two weeks, totally destroying October's sale figures! This doesn't even count the total sales of the Wii for November! It could easily be over 1 million sold in a month for the little white console.

Apparently during the last week Nintendo sold over 350,000 units and 300,000 units the week before that. Thus making this two week period the second most impressive selling of the Wii since it launched over a year ago.

Also, Mr. Fils-Aime has been making some surprise stops into retailers like Wal-Mart and Target all month to check on supplies. It seems that he has come into the store just as the last Wii is being sold many times. Game sales are also on the rise as Reggie was quoted as saying "Consumers are buying every game we can put ito the system."

Nintendo has ramped up production to about 1.8 million Wiis a month but they're still trying to keep up with demand. With Christmas coming, Nintendo really needs to step up their production to well over 2 million if they hope to stay on track for that 20 million Wiis sold by March 2008.

Yay for good numbers. If this is a sign of what's to come, I wonder how many more will sell once we get to crunch-time for the holidays? Any word on how the other consoles did during these few weeks in comparison?
I believe the PS3 sold about 300,000 this whole month total
Its unbelievable how fast they sell, very impressive.
I didn't know Wii was still going so damn strong.
went to wamart saw 4 wiis on the shelf...thought hmmmguess the rush is over, went back ONE HOUR later to pick up photos, they were gone,

i asked the guy 'did you just sell those 4 wiis in the case', he said 'nope, we just sold 12...its always like that, they come and then poof they sell out'

crazy huh?
Its amazing how things sell when Christmas + Mario Galaxy come.
these are excellent number for nintendo, so good for them, but I wonder how much these sales are attributed to stores like best buy actually putting their Wii's on the store floor and not having a sales guy/girl walk around trying to sell "the last one" every 15 minutes?

btw LMX is right, Mario Galaxy should really help to sell systems especially to those people who might be on the edge wondering if they should buy one if they see it. Though I have found that there's some misconceptions of Mario Galaxy...I talked to a gal I know that has a Wii yesterday and she said she thought about picking up Mario Galaxy, but heard it was really bad. After giving her what I can only imagine was a really stupid look, I told her to pick it up because it was great.
Thats just crazy figures!

I just wish people would start buying more games so developers don't start to think twice before making a Wii game. software sales aren't exactly amazing.
Yeah, this is great news for Nintendo and it's good to see that those of us who have supported them for so long (through the Gamecube era as well) have not done so in vain. Super Mario Galaxy will definitely be a factor for some people and others are still just trying to get the Wii for their loved ones for this Christmas since they failed to do so during the last Christmas. No matter how much I hear it, it's still amazing that it is selling out one year later.
imagine the number the will be sold in feb when ssbb comes out!
Yeah, if any game would convince me to buy a Wii if I hadn't already it would be that game. Hopefully people will have the cash to buy it after spending like crazy during the Christmas season as they tend to do.

It's not Christmas, it's "The Holiday Season" What about all those poor Jews and Muslims, and don't forget the Atheists!

On topic: I was talking to a guy in Target when there was no Guitar Hero wii's left. He said they got MORE GH than the other 2 systems.

????

uhhh, none

you are grasping at straws

awesome, take that people who said the wii would be sitting on shelfs a week after release!
for nintendo, its not about how much consumers will buy, its about how fast they can crank em out. cause if the systems are there, they will get snatched. which means you can Guarantee N is making them as fast as they can, cause the more they make, the more money they get.
Half the sales can probably can be attributed to Black Friday, where all retailers were selling limited amounts throughout the week until the shopping madhouse that was Black Friday. My sister was able get one then after searching for about a month.

in all the stores i've been in, i've seen the 360 advertised the most, in particular the Halo 3 special edition of it. i have yet to have a salesperson come up to me about the wii, but they've got that 360 box in the middle of the aisle in the Best Buy near campus, and every person that asked if i needed help told me about the special on it. Even in the game stores around here, the 360 boxes are everywhere, and i see and hear nothing about the wii OR ps3 from any workers. nobody' pushing the Wii, cause they know that the demand is higher than the supply, and they don't need to push it.

like you guys have said, you can probably attribute the higher sales from these weeks to the Black Friday mad rush.

Holy snapz! I'm surprised that many were made Toungue

But there's not that kind of demand for the PS3, that's for sure. If anything, the Xbox 360 demand is greater.

The Guitar Hero stuff doesn't really surprise me. And as for me calling it Christmas... I shall continue to do so as to me it is Christmas. If people would rather I could call it "The time of the year I get gifts that isn't my birthday"

If you have different beliefs then more power to you.
