In case you haven't read the paper or watched ESPN recently, I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to the Washington Redskins, as well as Sean Taylor's family.

MIAMI -- Pro Bowl safety Sean Taylor died early Tuesday after he was shot in his home by an apparent intruder, leaving the Washington Redskins in mourning for a teammate who seemed to have reordered his life since becoming a father.

In a statement released by the Redskins Tuesday morning, owner Daniel Snyder said, "This is the worst imaginable tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sean's family."

The 24-year-old player died at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he had been airlifted after the shooting early Monday, family friend Richard Sharpstein said. Sharpstein said Taylor's father informed him of the death at about 5:30 a.m.

"His father called and said he was with Christ and he cried and thanked me," said Sharpstein, Taylor's former lawyer. "It's a tremendously sad and unnecessary event. He was a wonderful, humble, talented young man, and had a huge life in front of him. Obviously God had other plans."

Apparently the shot hit a major artery in his left leg, causing him to lose too much blood.

Even if you don't like the Redskins, the NFL, or even ANY sport that is played in America, you must admit that this is a terrible tragedy. Although I can't really tell it, I would appreciate it if you bowed your head to say a prayer for his family.

EDIT: Put him with the correct team. Thanks, Diplomat. *smacks forehead with palm*
I do watch NFL (well used to but it's on really late here and I do know who he is and this is another tragedy. He was a great player and his life was taken by some [CENSORED]. May he rest in peace and my prayers and condolences go out to his family.
heard about this on the news, i really do feel bad.
Wow, that is very unfortunate. The Chiefs, the NFL, and the world have all lost a great person. May he rest in peace. He and all of his family members will be in my prayers.

Redskins,

I don’t hate much in this world except for the redskins (Cowboys fan), but what happened to Taylor is a tragedy. The NFL network has been constantly talking about this since it happened.

yeah...i turned on the tv at work and the first thing ESPNEWS was talking about was how the team was dealing with it, how the parents went to visit their practice to give them words of encouragement and keep playing...

it really is a tragedy. they believe it all to be just a random burglary, and it was just unlucky chance that it was his house they went after.
i lossely follow football, but this was tragic, and i just hope they find the person responsible.
