Now this deal comes with several conditions. If you live in the UK, need a new internet provider and a 40GB PlayStation 3, then this could be the deal for you. AOL is currently offering a free 40GB PS3 and Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction for new subscribers who are willing to sign a two-year contract for its £19.99 a month AOL Broadband Wireless Plus package.

After you complete the two-year contract, the PS3 is yours forever. The only thing you'll have to pay upfront is the £14.99 delivery charge for your new PS3.

We have to admit, this is a pretty good deal anyway you slice it. After all is said and done, you'll spend about £480 to get broadband internet for two years, a new PS3 and game, and the satisfaction that you technically got a PS3 completely free.

I'm not sure what internet cost are normally in the UK, but for "up to" 8mb download this doesn't sound too bad.
bah 'Up to 8mbit'?!

you'd be lucky to hit 0.5 on AOL's network. seriously, worst. decision. evar. they have a really, really, high contention level on their connections.

I switched to be* on the very same line and that 0.5/1 mbit connection suddenly became an 18mbit low contention connection.

and my up to 24mbit be* line was only £24/m with no real contract, I could leave at any time if I wanted.

...but then, a free ps3....
i would do it, ive had aol for years now and never had a problem with them. i just dont live in the UK
What if I cancel my current connection with AOL and then get join them again to get a ps3? Would they let you do that?
ya they should. you could always call and find out
UK AOL isn't owned by american AOL

they sold it to TalkTalk, who supply free broadband, this means the AOL network has a load of freeloaders on it and then there's a high contention.

Seriously, it's agonisingly slow.
