Remember the DS Demo Channel we all heard about a few months back? Well in true Nintendo style i.e. no heads-up, the "Minna no Nintendo" or Everybody's Nintendo Channel was launched yesterday at midnight. The most sought after feature of the channel is its aforementioned DS Download service offering demos and videos of upcoming games, formerly available only at selected gaming stores with the DS Download Station booths. However it also gives information about the library of Wii software and hardware available on the market. This encompasses the watching of video trailers, interviews and hot news. Did we mention that it also offers DS demos?

The channel is truly a long-deserved addition to the console and gives it slightly more of a community feel, needed after Nintendo's insisting of online privacy in their games. Neat little touches include being able to minimize a video being currently watched to browse the rest of the features on offer. The video continues to play with both picture and sound. More information will come as the updates for the Everybody's Nintendo Channel start to roll in, and hopefully we'll hear details about a worldwide release soon.

Honestly, I really like check Mii out...

Maybe because I'm an artist?

I enjoy the challenge of being given the directive of trying to create something and entering meaningless competitions for the sake of what I can do with the given elements. It sure as hell gave the Mii channel a second wind for me at least. I got bored after a while when it was just me making random Mii's only to send to people in my address book...

I got Level 5 with my Mario
I got level 6 Toungue
I made Level 9 wut wut! Big Grin
nice one! *cough*goatsemii*cough*
wow this seems rather impressive and not so useless.....im sorry if i gotta get another bunk channel like everybody votes or check mii out im going to go crazy! they gotta quit it with the junk lol

the DS demos are whats going to make this worth it!

I can see where you're coming from. However, who is to really say Check Mii Out is really that useless? Okay, so the DS channel does have major advantages, but it also a big flaw. Where you ask?

It's a matter of time and another storage issue. First of all, once I download the demo and shut down the DS, the demo is gone. That BLOWS. In the circumstances of my life if I am going to download something I want to store it for later. IE: downloading a demo, taking off to head to the train station, and playing it on the train. With the ability of not being able to save the demo I can't do that. So it's cool that yeah sure, it appeals to people who have the time to sit on their asses at home and putz around with demos for a while, but unfortunately I generally don't get that luxury. In most circumstances, I would much rather invest my time in finishing a game I already own. Sure it's a great thing to finally have demos but what good are they when they vanish on a reboot?

Now to me at least, Check Mii Out is much more relevant to my schedule. When it finally comes time for me to kick back and relax to myself, sometimes I only have maybe 20 to 30 minutes. That's just enough time for me to create a Mii, hop on the channel, submit it to a contest or the forum. Even if I were in the mood to mingle with technology in that small amount of time, it is not a lengthy enough investment for most games which almost demand hours of attention in order to follow the story being told. I guess one could argue that I could also use that small amount of time to download and play a demo, but what if I like it so much I want to play it 2 days later? I have to download it again...GAY! That then it turns into a terrible time waster.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying I'm against a cool channel like the Demo Channel. My point here is that to some people, the Check Mii Out channel holds some weight in the realm of usefulness, while the Demo Channel winds up sitting at the useless end of the table to them. It really comes down to how much time people have to expend on something like gaming. And to be quite honest I have a feeling when I start testing games in a few weeks that I'm going to grow sick of playing them in my free time.

i was anawares of this flaw with the demo channel, if you have a storage device for your DS can you keep it on there? like for the DS browser it comes with a little storage thing to cache files in. maybe that will make it so you can keep the demos?
thats what i was thinking, youll probably need an expansion ram disk or something to insert on slot 2 for downloads

that would be EXTREMELY pointless if pizza is correct with downloading DS games and once you shut the DS down they are gone....i mean how lame and pointless is that?

i think youre on to something italian, maybe it will save if you get the expansion pack? sounds a little more practical

They're only temporary, haven't you ever visited a DS Download Station?

nope i dont know how it works.......
You go around wherever there's a download station, turn on your DS without a game in it and select download play. Then you download the game demos or videos and the demo or video stays on your DS until you turn it off. So if you needed to save battery life you could just close the DS.
oh! i did know that! some reason i thought there was more to it. but where do i find the stations?

probably when i go into manhatten again im bound to find a few- ill be going to the nintendo store in times square again around new years anyways for that NYE detail again that i just love so much.....kill me....
I know they have one in nearly, if not all EB Games and Gamestop locations. I assume that Nintendo stores must have em as well. I think there are a couple other places but I'm not sure.
