Namco's first party peripherials for its Time Crisis series are typically fantastic. The new Guncon 3 looks to be no exception. It's apparently very accurate. How accurate? Way more accurate than the Wii-mote. Time Crisis 4 producer Teruaki Minami explains:

...Guncon 3's LED markers are actually much more accurate. Much better than Nintendo Wii's controller. In the Wii, there are only two LED points, but for the Guncon 3 there are six LED points, so it is more accurate than the Wii. The PlayStation 3 will be able to recognize the tilt of the Guncon 3, its distance from the monitor, and these things cannot be done with the Wii system.

What's more, the Guncon 3 also has SIXAXIS capabilities as well. It's also bright orange so some idiot doesn't use it to hold up a gas station.

It sounds like this Guncon 3 will be very sensitive, hopefully gamers will be able to adjust the sensitivity to their liking and not just have 1 standard setting.

They haven't even played a Wii, hmmm i suppose nobody has had finger pointing multiplayer battles on the Wii menu because it recognises the tilt of the contoler, and obviously it cant tell the difference between distances from the monitor because you cant resize images or brushes in the photo channel or indeed open doors in metroid prime 3.

oh wait, yes you can, just another example of jealousy that they didn't think of it first,

and the reason for 6 LED's, it won't necessarily make it more accurate, they needed to change the design of how it works significantly (i.e. use more sensors and clame it's more accurate) for legal reasons involving the patents nintendo have on their wiimote technology so they don't have to pay nintendo for the privalge of using their idea.

Lol, what? Wow, now that's some ignorance.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how accurate the product really is. I agree that there have been a couple games for the Wii that have shown great accuracy, I'm thinking of Metroid Prime 3, but to have the possibility of great precision and accuracy in Time Crisis 4 is a welcomed benefit to gamers.
Um, yeah, none of that means ANYTHING

It doesn't need 6 points to be more accurate--in fact, I don't believe you can get more accurate than 3 points: with any given 3 points, only a single plane can contain all of them, giving extreme precision--this is why satellites TRIangulate for things like GPS (and that's pretty damn accurate)

Also, that's why three legged stools can't wobble Ignorance is bliss
That means nothing. Remember that too much complication is the Wii does as well as it does. Realism isn't always better when there's so much complication, and even so, it may not be applied as generally as the Wiimote can.

I've always felt SIXAXIS to be useless, and that opinion will never change. I still don't see this gun changing it, as all of these functionalities may be too complicated, and or not applied to as many general situations.
I would have much rather have heard more about the details of this new thing, instead of comparing it to how much 'better' it is than the Wii remote. kinda retarded that they took that approach in my opinion
I wouldn't say the manufacturer or publisher of the game/controller saying it's better is retarded, but it's sad that when a comparison to the Wii-mote (in any way) is made people act like there's no possible way it could be possible.  I mean I honestly don't know how well it will work, but I look forward to the reviews.
