so im sure there have been plenty questions about modding ur wii. id like to know how to do it, where to get the supplies, any other facts id need to know, and any precautions id need to take. if conversation about modding wiis is not aloud on here then just tell me and lock the thread. thanks
as we've expressed several times before, modding your Wii is not illegal. what you do with it is a different story thought. for instance, it is not illegal to buy a Wii game, make a copy of it and play the copied disc. it IS illegal to rent or borrow the game, copy it and then play the copy.
joker has said before he knows how (or knows someone who knows how) to mod a Wii and will do it for cheap. may want to talk to him about it.
if you want to do it yourself, you'll need the actual mod (WiiKey most likely), a soldering tool, and a tri-wing screwdriver (or a self-created one by taking a long, skinny, solid plastic object [kinda like the head of a screwdriver made of plastic], heating the tip, and pressing it firmly into the screw head to form the plastic into the tri-wing shape). then of course comes the installation where you'll have to make sure you discharge all electical build up, all your tools are steralized and you don't accidentally break something. best bet is probably to find someone who's atleast worked on computers before to do it. may want to write up a contract too saying if the system doesn't work after the installation, the installer is responsible and will refund your money, buy a new Wii, or whatever.
Moved to modification board.
If you don't know what you are doing then I wouldn't recommend that you try it on your own. I'm not sure what version of the Wii you have but if you have a newer version then the motherboard (?) is different now and the points are even harder to connect. I'd pay someone to do it for me so that I wouldn't screw up my Wii. Like Nomad said, Joker knows a guy who knows a guy if you are interested.
When did you get your Wii? The newer ones are a real pain to solider, at least with the tools that most people use.
then good luck for me because i got it the second day it came out. so is there a chance of having an explanation or is it toooo long
If you got it the second day it came out then it should be a breeze to modify. I am still against you doing it yourself if you don't have any previous experience though.
If you mod a wii it can not update well it says it in the manual.
