Have you checked your Wii lately? If not (and you're connected to the internet) it should be glowing that beautiful blue glow. Nintendo has released updates to the Wii Shop Channel and the Photo Channel.
First, the Wii Shop Channel: Gifts for all! That's right, you can now purchase VC games and forward them to your Wii friends.
Second, the Photo Channel. There was a thread about this upgrade. First, you are able to select your favorite photo and set it as the channel's icon. Nifty at best... I personally didn't mind the stock image that displays, but to each his/her own. Second is the addition of AAC support and removal of MP3 support. Why? For those of you with MP3s, time to start converting or just be like me and refrain from using the Photo Channel for listening to music. The reasoning behind removing one type of support and adding another is beyond me, but just remember, there's no more MP3s, only AAC.

I can't get the update to work for me for some reason. When I go to the Shopping Channel it says that I need to do a system update to update the shopping channel first. When I search for a new update it fails to find one... I'll try again tomorrow in case it's just a lot of people downloading it at the moment.
I believe the function they use in the portal is the "float" command. If you want to give inserting a picture a shot, I believe it is
or something like that. Make sure it is an appropriate size and that it is hosted by our server (picturebox or an attachment, etc)
I updated my photo channel because I don't use the music function anyway. So why not.
The removal of mp3s does not effect games that use mp3s like Excite Truck. It only affects music played from the photo channel
I can't firgure out how to paste my fav pic on the Photo channel.
view the pic you want, then go to the post option, then select post to wii menu--you're done!

The update automatically changes the shop channel, but you have to go in the WiiWare section and download the Photo channel 1.1. It's not something Nintendo is forcing you to do.

No, the system update automatically did it to my console.
