Has anyone picked up Dragon Quest Monsters Joker? It's a really sweet game. It's only for RPG purists but it is definitaly more than a spin-off from the main franchise.
one of the cooleset features is the ability to synthesize and recieve bosses from previous Dragon Quest games that you can use for your team. Anyone remember a certain Evil Jester? How about the Demon Lord from Alefgard? Hell, you can even get Trode, the cursed King himself. Pretty awesome.

I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an engaging RPG or anyone who have run out of steam after beating the Elite Four.

On an interesting note, for anyone who thinks Dragon Quest Monsters is just a Pokemon rip-off:
The ability to capure and use monsters on your team dates waaaaay back to the NES in Dragon Quest V, Years before Pokemon was even invented.
nah this game looks mega weird lol.

Imma just wait for mah DQ IX
Yeah...I got Joker some time ago and I think that it is a pretty good game. It is not a pokemon knock off. I like it better than pokemon. It isn't as much for little kids. Also, you can get every monster just by playing the synthesizing (mating) other monsters, unlike in pokemon.

I've been a huge fan for dragon warrior/quest ever since the first and this game just re-enforces that. The only complaint about the game that I have is that the wi-fi options could have been a lot better.

Also, I have trouble connecting to the wifi sometimes. Is this just me?

Even though collecting monsters has been around since Dragon Quest V, I think Pokemon improved on the formula. I watch the X-Play review for this game, they gave it a 3 out of 5 and basically said it was Dragon Quest's version of pokemon. And i guess the mating in Monsters works for that game, but it wouldn't be logical in Pokemon. Breeding a pikachu with charmander and to get a squirtle wouldn't make sense at all, now would it?
Right, because X-play is completely correct on everything. Any of their opinions of any game is absolutely true.

Dude, just because a critic doesn't like (or does like) a game, doesn't mean you will. Game Informer gave Mario Party 5 a 2 out of ten, and I think it's great. No matter how may reviewers say something about a game, doesn't mean you'll agree.

By the way, The synthesizing in Dragon Quest Mosters is infinitely better than Pokemon. The monsters start with insane base stats and can potentially learn ANY skill in the game.
