- Zelda: TP popped back into the top 50 for another Christmas selling over 30,000 this week.
Nintendo needs to send out some more damn units
most of the stock is likely being saved for the week/weekend before x-mas, which is always the biggest selling period

what he said. in Target we have Wiis, but we just holding on to them.

That's sad though; it sold less than the PS3!
Only 173,798, thats kind of sad considering they managed to sell 704,805 DSs. Make more Wiis Nintendo!
Given that I keep seeing articles in the NY Times and other large syndicates about people freaking out because they can't get a Wii, I'm going to attribute this to a lack of stock as well as stockpiling by retailers for Christmas.

But still... *shudders*
wow, i would have never thought i'd see the day when the PS3 outsold the Wii, haha
And all the Ice Silver/White PSP's are sold out over here. : (
It's not because demand it falling, it's because there are not enough god damn units!
It's mainly stores holding out for the shopping season. But I also remember reading somewhere that the Nintendo World Store in NYC has DAILY Wii shipments with at least 20 per day. If only they could do that everywhere...
Yeah its definitely due to lack of supply... The crazy thing is I have a feeling now that it isn't Nintendo withholding units, it's greedy retailers stockpiling them to draw in as many customers as possible at one time.

In fact I'm positive it's the shortage. The morning show on the radio around here called Kidd Chris was singing a crazy song about how he finally got a Wii last night. Never heard a 360 or PS3 song yet... Give it a week and we'll see the charts flip.
If the Wii numbers are due to lack of supply, then stores must be holding back a ton of these things. Isn't Nintendo shipping out something like 1.6-1.8 million a month?
I STILL don't get how Ultimate Alliance is #2!? I would rather eat a turd sandwich than pay for that game... What's funny though is that SMG has almost sold just as many copies as UA and its only been out a month...

MUA is part of a holiday bundle with the Premium and Elite Xbox 360s.

I have the game for the Wii and actually like it alot, though it lacks some features in previous X-men legends games. I wouldn't pay full price for it though, and being bundled with the 360 makes those game numbers soar.

yes, but that's a worldwide number. Either way, let's do some math! Rough math, but math nonetheless!

1.8 million divided by 4 weeks in a month=

450,000 units shipped weekly. The US seems to be getting about 200,000-250,000 of those (whoa, that's a LOT) according to GlueGun's past threads... let's call it 225,000 weekly, shall we?

225,000 units to the US weekly, minus about 175,000=

50,000 units stockpiled. Seems like a lot? Not really--it's only about 20% (22.2%, actually, but these ARE rough figures...) so like, one in every 5 is saved for the Christmas rush. Figure each store gets somewhere around 10 per shipment, that means they're only keeping 2 behind the counter. Not such a big number if you ask me

*THIS IS ALL VERY ROUGH CALCULATION*

and there's the answer to how M:UA is selling so many units

Pretty much. Plus all the lame games sell like hotcakes during Christmas. Heck, I'm seeing copies of Nintendogs going for $30AU whilst copies of Pokemon Fire Red are $69AU and that's second hand!

Teh parents get the cheap games for their kids. And as for the Wii dropping to last place, it must be lack of supply. I mean I could understand 360 outselling Wii because that's a decent console with a nice library of titles to sit beside anyone's Wii. But PS3? That won't be a worthwhile console until this time next year when MGS4 comes out. Until then its a big black overpriced paperweight.
