Well, that solves the riddle. Activision has simply come out and said what's holding up the PS3 guitar patch that will allow Guitar Hero and Rock Band guitars to work with each other. The Boston Globe quotes Activision spokeswoman: "We believe we should be compensated for the use of our technology." Well, that's blunt.

We still don't understand what Activision has to lose by making the guitars compatible with each other. With so many Rock Band players desperate for another guitar controller, we're pretty sure they'll give Activision the sweet cash they're looking for by buying the game. Isn't that free money for them?

Can't say I'm surprised, but WOW.
I want to know why this guitar doesn't work only on the PS3 version, and what the patch does. The PS3 is a much more open platform than the 360, and this really should be the other way around.
This is just more proof that giving developers/publishers the ability to charge for bonuses, "unlockables" and updates (or microtransactions in short) will lead to abuse.  Absolutely rediculous. I sure hope this is the line in the sand gamers draw, because if they actually charge for this, it could be the next step towards my doom and gloom outlook on gaming.
The really sad thing about this Harmonica. is that I've read other people talking about the idea that Harmonix has already made a patch so that the guitar will work with both games, so Activision isn't out any cash. I think your right though, this is gonna leave a sour taste in gamers mouths.
