Full Version: Rumor: New VC Consoles on the Way

Along with the American and Europeen Nintendo website redesigns, Nintendo Japan has also been busy updating and changing their site. Among the changes we have the Wii's Virtual Console page which now leaves two empty spaces in the console navigation links, possibly reserved for two new consoles.

It's safe to assume that one of these spots will go to the MSX which Nintendo has already confirmed will be coming to Japan, while the final spot could be anything from the Sega Saturn to Atari games and even arcade classics. The sky is the limit.

Of course all these extra consoles, and the potential for Saturn games to one day be available on the Virtual Console makes the need for some sort of storage expansion on Wii quite evident; with all of the games already available and many of them being N64 titles after all. And yes I know that we moan and complain about the lack of a Wii hard drive quite a bit, well expect it to continue later on into Wii's life cycle as the Shop Channel library gets larger and our hard drives fill up.

Woo, Atari! pong!
Woo Gamecube! Lol.
64DD and Saturn... PLEASE!

Graphically it would look nice too... the 64DD under the 64 and the Saturn under the Sega...

Too bad I already put money down betting that it's gonna be the PSP and Jaguar.

Sega Saturn

That would be awesome, in my opinion.

I reckon if there's an eighth console it'll most likely be the Master System (and I'll be happy if it is).
it could be a GC!!!

that would be really cool, but really doubtful since the games are still in stores.
I'd have to pull for the Sega Saturn. That would be a nice addition. Dreamcast? lol
GC is out of the question, it would nullify any reason for even supporting backwards compatibility...
It's all good!
Gamecube?  Seriously? NOT.  And just how would those 1.5 GB files go on that 512MB internal storage???
They wouldn't.
If they make one of them the SEGA Master System... I just might buy a Wii.
Saturn please.... I want Dragon Force my disc is scratched and i was never ever to beat the game i would be in the midle of the final boss fight and it would freeze
I don't know any more systems!!! I'm just happy with the ones that are on there!!!
For systems like SegaCD and Sega Saturn, where the media is too large to store, they could make it compatible with inserted discs from those consoles. (Dreamcast would be limited by the stuff needed to work to make the DVD drive read GD-ROMs, which would cause great wear on a drive not meant to read GD-ROMS, like Sega's which was an off the shelf CD drive, thus why it lasted so short).

Anyway, I could see Master system and 32x coming first.

This got my attention. How exactly would they work this out?

I don't know, for some reason nights doesn't seem to interest me.
Any chance that the Commodore 64 would make it there?

I'd have to say that the other one (not counting the MSX) would probably either be the Sega Saturn or the Dreamcast. I mean, we've got the sequel, but what about those who never played the original? (BTW, I'm talking about NiGHTS into Dreams)

Maybe even Sega CD?
