You have to remember that Wii is the first system Nintendo is taking online. They're new to the whole thing and they want to see what they can do on their own and discover what works and what doesn't. Plus Nintendo's service is free, the 360's isn't. M$ isn't going to have you pay for a crap online service, then they'd have all sorts of finacial problems with it.
Ya but xbox and ps2 were sonys and microsofts first online consoles and there's is better than wii's. Nintendo also had the advantage of looking at what there competitors did with online and see what works and what doesn't. But nintendo is too... dumb i guess... I dont think nintendo really realized how important online really is.
I don't want a system that's just like the 360 or PS3.. if I did I would've bought one of the two right away instead of the Wii! Yeah, the way they do their online service kinda sucks right now, but they'll get it right eventually. And as long as their casual stuff sells, they won't really need to work on it too much. It's a money-making business. Nintendo certainly knows how to do that well. And of course they know how important online is, otherwise they wouldn't make any attempt at it at all.
I think it's good. I love that it's free and the games that you can play are incredible, examples being Metroid Prime Hunters and LoZ

H. There just needs to be a bit more coming from the third party end.

Huh? Your talking about DS?
If their console's online is worse then their handheld's.. I'd have to say thats pretty bad.
Like BeAKer said, they had the chance to see what others have done with online. Doesn't mean they have to copy.
But my guess as to why it isn't good right now is.. it doesn't have to be.
The Wii is selling like mad, and still sold out everywhere. Why boost sales with better apps when its already selling as well as it possibly could?
This also applies to Brawl. Why release it now, when we know it would boost sales, when we can release it once sales start dwindiling, and force them back up with a giant release?
I look at it like this. Their current central focus is on the casual market. The casual market could care less about online play. If they don't stay on top of really keeping the casual crowd happy from the start they're gonna lose interest due to consumer neglect, so right now it's more of a, "What can we do to draw them in so we can eventually focus on other facets of the market?". So online services although not completely forgotten about, are left to play on the side lines while the rest of their marketing plan really solidifies itself. After WiiFit comes out along with Brawl and MK:Wii I'm sure we're going to see a lot more online functionality...
As for the hardcore gamers who want online right now, they can be neglected, because all they need is a killer app to bring em back.
It has alright service..BT3 is like a turn based RPG online.
They need to def work on it.
yea what do u mean i dont think its like a turn based rpg its just more of a delusive fighting game that i rarely play due to the fact its too short of a game
He's referring to the fact that it's way too laggy online. I find the game fun, because I'm a DBZ fan d:
And welcome to Wiiloaded, you're name is cool

Yeah, what Wii_Rulez said.
The online is so laggy it's LIKE playing a turn based RPG. Which is both hilarious and sad

You bring up a good point. Nintendo's Online is free and you don't pay $60 for a game.

At this stage, Nintendo needs to offer serious incentives to users for their online. They need dedicated servers like Playstation Network so that gamers have a reason to play on their console.
I'm guessing they're hoping Brawl will do this for them for only for so long.
