There's nothing wrong with the size of the current DS Lite or button placement. So why make another one?

Once DS Lite salesw start going down they;ll need something to keep sales going.

Remember this isn't a Nintendo design, its made by a fan.

Thank You Snake. Of course if Nintendo went along with this concept it'd look a lot better than this. Remember that this DS won't have the GBA Slot, and they've already sad it'll be smaller than the DS lite.

When the DSL sales start dwindiling, they'll release the next DS.. not just a new design.
GBA had 3 designs.. the third one didn't sell at all. I'm pretty sure they won't make the same mistake again.

Good point Rawr.
wait what were all the GBA versions? i only remember 2!

google to the rescue
GBA
GBASP
GBA Micro

and then there was one with no light to it. so in actuallity:
1 GBA
2 GBA SP
GAME
BOY
MICRO
>:0

Lol. I forgot all about it. It certainly wasn't worth the $100 price tag. Plus it didn't have the same connectors as GBA and GBA SP had. Just not worth it.
I don't know who would by the micro. I used the sp and it is so much better.
Seriously?

It was more compact. Thus, totally worth the 120$ price tag.

^-- that was a sarcastic comment

And thus, the "finish him" blow to the whole idea of the DS: Compact.

*pumps fists*

Not quite. The micro failed because it was awkwardly small, you had to get a new connector to play multi-player. Plus the SP just looked better than the micro, so ppl didn't see the reason to change.

I beg to differ, I think the micro looked amazing.
The DS is what killed the reason to buy it.

Yea it did look nice, and the DS sure didn't help sales, but the Micro didn't have anything new to offer.

GBA - New GB and still played GBC games.
GBA SP - Same as above, but was the first Nintendo handheld that had a backlight and that flipped open. Both of which are present in the DS/lite.

I liked that idea but if Nintendo were to do a redesign I have no idea how a nearly perfect design could be made better.
HAL makes a good point. There are little to no flaws, improving on it could take some work. I think Nintendo will be able to pull it off, however.
oh yes the stupid micro! i know only one person with that thing and its LZ- other than that i dont know anyone else who owned that thing! besides didnt the original phat DS come out when that did? or am i jumping the gun here [so to speak]

i had both the GBA and the SP i loved them both but now that i got emulators and a DS lite the hell do i need those systems anymore! i traded those in years ago
looks a bit fragile,
GBA Micro?

It's denser than a house-brick.

Seriously, I think it's immune to meteor strikes.
