You may not like Capcom for porting the former PS3-exclusive Devil May Cry 4 to the Xbox 360. But, can you take comfort in knowing that the PS3 version is still superior than its 360 counterpart? If you watched this episode of The 1UP Show, you would've heard the 1UP editors agree that the PS3 version looks and plays better than the 360 version. In addition, a new issue of Famitsu reveals some features that are sure to make PS3 owners quite happy.

An optional hard drive install will supposedly remove all load times from the game. But, be warned -- it's quite a hefty install at nearly 5GB. Not only will load times be shortened on the PS3, but audiophiles will be glad to hear that the PS3 version also includes 5.1 LPCM audio. There's also support for the PSN, although how exactly it will work is still unclear. Regardless, it makes us glad to see the PS3 version of DMC4 get extra functionality.

Almost 5gb is a lot of room, but I wonder if people will sacrifice it just to have no load screens in the. 5.1 LPCM is pretty cool too.
I have seen both versions being compared in a video. Both looked almost identical. If you owned a PS3 and 360 you might aswell get the 360 version for the Gamerpoints?
Depends how they develop this game with SIXAXIS.

If it controls good like that then the 360 version will be left in the dust.

Its just like what will happen if MGS4 ever goes to 360, it will be inferior to the PS3 original.
The thing about watching the videos, is that will we all see some differences, so it comes down to personal preference.  I'll wait till the professionals come out with their reviews and impressions, because I'm just a regular guy and quite frankly my opinion based on a gametrailers clip doesn't mean a whole lot.

I think PSN support might be interesting, and I'll wait to see what that's all about.
And if the SIXAXIS controls are fun then I'm further sold. Hell, I'm leaning towards a PS3 at the moment anyway.
From the last video I saw, the 360 version had better textures, but that may be my opinion. The 5.1 LCPM is cool, especially since the sound savvy gamers always went with the Sony brand, due to the superior sound Sony consoles have always had.

Is it confirmed if the install is optional or required?

Thus far 1up's editors say the PS3 version looks better, and as I said before I'll have to wait and see the final products before rendering an opinion.

Ah, quite.

For the visuals, I was simply going on my opinion based on the video circulating recently, and what Capcom themselves said.

This is good for the PS3 at least, that DMC4 has some perks, because I want to see this help the PS3 a little, being it was supposed to be a PS3 exclusive. I'm on the edge of picking this up (not all THAT interested). If I do, I may wait until Aug.-Oct. of next year when I get a PS3 that's part of a solid SKU package for $399 or hopefully $299.

The optional install is a great thing. As we're seeing the large increase of sales after the launch of the 40 gig, it's likely many users have the 40GB HDD. I can attest to all that 5 gig can be suffered in space as we play through the main campaign. When that's over, delete it. Get the occassional feeling to give it another go? Just pop in and play, just deal with a little loading times.

....i'd better get an 80GB PS3 then. I'll need the extra storage space if all the good games allow partial installs.

Xbox1 had better audio than the PS2...

And the crappy ones...

Spiderman 3 (god awful game), takes a solid 2 gigs.

Meanwhile, Motorstorm and Resistance (both decent games) took
0 and 151 MB respectively.

@d4rk
Did it really? Because I've heard different.

Well we know know what the PSN support will be for DMC4...

Devil May Cry gets SIXAXIS support, achievements

Foreign reviewers have received copies of Devil May Cry 4 on PS3, and have revealed a few new details about the game. First is an annoyance that we're sure many will complain about: the 5GB install to remove the game's load times is not optional. When the game releases, you'll be forced to endure minutes upon minutes of waiting as the game copies gigabytes of data to your PS3 hard drive.

There's good news, though. The game will use the PSN for ranking modes. You'll also be able to collect achievements in the game (like in the Xbox 360 version) and you'll be able to see what achievements your friends have collected (a la Xbox Live).

Finally, SIXAXIS controls have been added to the game. By tilting the controller, you'll be able to control the camera. It's not a significant extra, but it is a nice, subtle way of using the PS3's tilt functionality.

A push forward for PS3 achievements here, the camera tilt control is a nice subtle extra but could be annoying at times.
The install is fine with me. I don't mind an initial install, put it in, walk away for a while, and come back. However, load times in game are more annoying, so I'm rather glad that there is the 5GB install.
definitely buying an 80GB to deal with this install...

the camera thing is going to be annoying. I can already see it. Sneezing and sending the camera flying across the screen is going to be so annoying. Hopeful its able to be disabled.

Ouch, that's terrible. I hope they let you map the camera to the right stick instead.

is sony still calling their version of achievements, 'entitlements'? or is it now trophies? i cant remember.
I don't know, but I DO remember this.
