I'm not sure where this goes, so I'll put it here...

Have you ever though about gamestop's trade-in values of being way off what you think you would get? Look at this... A game that they sell new for $49.99 is traded in for $17.00, they then put it back on a shelf for $44.99

It's pure business tactics. As long as people continue to trade in their game at those prices, there is no reason for them to offer more. It's is an easy way to get money from old games for you, and a good way for them to stay in business and compete against companies like Wal-Mart. That being said, I do not trade in my games, ever. I usually hang on to them, along with the console. If I do just want to get rid of a game, I will sell it on eBay.
GAME are very good for trade-ins. I bought a game for €60 and traded it in for €37 Smile
It sucks, but that's just how it is. Like Joker said I hold on to my games, unless I'm sure I won't play it anymore.
Thats why I go to blockbuster.

MUCH better deals.

I remember I bought Mario Party 4 for $30 there, when it just came out too. Brand New. Never opened.

i guess they always did, strangely though, I've never seen them advertising they do.

The only games I've ever traded in were Mario Party 4 and some GBA games. (Mega Man and DBZ to name two. Toungue)

I tend to hang on to my games more, now. I used to think trading games in to get money towards the better games you wanted was wonderful. Then I realized that I could get much more money by selling them at a yard sale or whatever.

The ONLY reason you should EVER trade in something to a game store is because it's broken/defective. (Just don't tell them. ;p)
It's how I got rid of my more-than-broken GameCube. Toungue

Gamestation offer better trade-in prices?

blockbuster never used to sell games- rentals yes but buys no

this started a few years ago believe it or not when hollywood video started opening "game crazy". then block buster started selling their games

after using the powers of google- this started in 2002!

In 2002, Blockbuster acquired Movie Trading Company, a Dallas chain that buys, sells, and trades movies and games, to study potential business models for DVD and game trading. Also that year, they acquired Gamestation, a 64 store UK computer and console games retailer chain
