Honestly Halo 3 online has more options for customization than CoD4 but the overall gameplay online and community is just sluggish and horrible.. CoD4 is more intense takes more teamwork and you gotta know the maps to play it.

Thats one of the things that frustrates me about COD4. Its just so easy to die. Although its realistic, its annoying. Aleast with Halo 3 it takes more to kill some one.

Just to settle something, if your comparing both COD4 and "Gaylo 3". Halo 3 wins for its online modes no doubt. But Halo's storyline is pretty average. On the other hand COD4's campaign is something special in its self.

round 1 = story COD4 wins +1 pt
round 2 = multiplayer COD4 wins +2pts
round 3 = Ctrl+F search for halo in either title. Halo 3 wins +9999 pts
thus halo 3 wins

Well I own both and have played online with them quite alot. I have to say Halo 3 wins the online battle, but not by much. The quality of the online is great and they offer a great experience.
Halo 3 > COD4 online.
