I apologize because I'm sure there's another thread already made for this, but I have a best buy gift card, and I've been eye balling battalion wars 2 and I want to know if it's any good. I never played the first one, but after seeing a couple sites reviews, it doesn't look too bad.
I'd like some too... I've heard there will be a review on this site soon, and since Best Buy gift cards never expire, you have some time to think.

The reason I was curious now, was that I'm going to a New Years Eve party tonight, and taking the Wii along is always fun. I would run and pick it up if I knew it was a solid game

i thought it was fun, d4rk thought it was fun, and luben really likes it. the gameplay is pretty solid. replay value may be questionable
multiplayer holds up decently well, but if you don't have that you may never play it again after beating it
I really like it, the single player is pretty bland but the wi-fi multiplayer is pretty good by wii standards.
I was considering getting it myself.
I like it. I never owned the first one. Lots of strategy involved in getting the right unit to attack/defend something at what time. And the over all goal in each mission is to finish witha A or S rank to unlock bonus features. I got all B ranks and one S rank for the Imperial Army the first time around. And when I moved to the next army I got a C on the first mission D: It gets challenging as you go on in the game. The replay value is present in the single player mode and in multiplayer. Co-op really sucks without communication though, but there is no lag.
I was originally going to get this game but SMG and GH3 seem to keep me busy enough so i am all set!
I love this game. It's a great game, great gameplay, decent story, nice use of Wii controls, and looks beautiful for a Wii game. I would say it's worth a buy gft, watch out online, some of those people are amazing.
Just as a quick update. I went to pick the game up at best buy on Dec 31, only to find that the store had closed early. When going the next day, I chose not to pick the game up, but instead spent the same $49.99 and got "The Command and Conquer Saga" which has Tiberium Wars along with every other Command and Conquer game plus their expansions all on 3 DVDs. I thought this was a much better deal and am happy with my decision.
EDIT:hmmm, seems like you decided not to get it, oh well, keep my post below in mind for the future
To be honest with you, you will get a bigger kick out of this game if you have wifi at your home, after you beat 1player campaign mode, you'll never play it again, *if you have wifi* wifi play ios very enterntaining and even if you have had the game for a month or 2 like me, the wifi mode can give you a good 1-3 hours of play time a day.
i suggest you pick this game up, its a great title and loads of fun
hope i was helpful
its awesome. you made a bad decision passing this one up IMHO

I'll get a lot more value out of 13 games for $49.99. Plus you should try Command and Conquer 3 if you haven't...it's amazing and much more challenging then previous games IMO.

Once I complete the whole campaign I plan on going back and trying to acheive an A , if not a S rank for each mission. I do like the wi-fi part as well, I'm hoping to actually complete a co-op mission. All my tries have ended up in defeat D:
BWii is an ok game if you find it cheap but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it at full price. I believe you made the right choice on the C&C deal.
i rented BWii a few days ago. it's pretty fun. i think in the first country campaign thing i got all S ranks and an A rank on the last mission
