I couldn't really keep up with all the nerd talk that was coming out of his mouth, but he got an applause so I guess this is good?
I felt the exact same way when i watched it yesterday! I guess it is just going to lead to more hacking of the Wii. Good stuff!
so he made the wii spit some numbers out on the screen... I don't understand any of it lol... BTW hacking your wii is kinda illegal and kinda gay IMO

Modding is homosexual?

lol. Its not illegal is it?

No it's not illegal. Also, very nice video, thanks for sharing Snake. Very good news for modders. Rep'd
Its not illegal? Thats why people using mods get their Wii's bricked by nintendo if they get caught..

Because Nintendo don't want people downloading free games.

The title of this thread isn't entirely acurrate. The point of the video is that they have figured out a way to run "unsigned" code on the Wii.

Unsigned code will allow us to write our own programs for the Wii and have full access to the increased performance and peripherals of the Wii which includes the Wiimote! Theoretically we could even run gamecube games with network access, say for example Mario Kart multiplayer over the internet which was possible with the gamecube (See this http://cubeonline.warppipe.com/ )

It should be possible to create a boot disc for the Wii that lets you boot copied games without a mod chip. It should also let us have multiple Wii games on a single disc with an integrated boot loader. This would work similar to the PS2 boot discs that pretended to be Crazy Taxi with the added advantage that we (as in end users) could create our own bootable discs without relying on another vendor.

In the end I'm very happy. It means I can buy a new Wii for my little brother without any worries about it not working with a mod chip.

Meh, the title can stay the same unless a mod feels its necassary. Although being able to play copied games without a mod chip sounds quite exciting.

Indeed it does, this will make homebrew totally safe and legitimate too, as long as it's booted by DVD-Rom

Yes...I am sure that hacking a console is seen as homosexual by many. Get a new vocabulary, it will do the body good.

Hacking a console isn't illegal.

And just because you don't understand something doesn't make it gay.
These are the kind of things I love from D4rk. Thank you.
Nitemare I get the impression you haven't been gaming for very long. Please read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewis_Galoo...ca%2C_Inc. and http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Australia's_..._are_legal which proves that modifying games and consoles are not illegal in many areas of the world.

I'm not trying to direct people to other forums but if you want to read more in depth information on the subject there is an interview with the person from the youtube video here http://www.tehskeen.com/forums/showthrea...#post23646
A quote " The immediate next goal is getting something like SDLoad working so that I can stop killing plastic trees -- after that, it'd be neat to have, say, a Linux Channel. Smile"
Realize they only got this working thirty minutes before the presentation. That is why the demo was so rough and also why more of the information hasnt been released yet
That is really great and all, but are we really going to see any benefit from this?
Well one potential benefit is a Wii Linux disc with a web browser that supports flash or something similar to XBox media center.
I wasn't aware an action or process such as hacking could be homosexual anyway.
