"File this in the "hmm, interesting" folder of your mind's desktop. Sony's polling its customers in the Asian market for ways in which they can improve their PC/PSP PlayStation Store. One of the selectable responses is "Monthly subscription plan (1 price for unlimited download)". Interesting idea. Would you be happy paying a set amount each month, ala GameTap, for unlimited access to the store's PSP and PS1 games? I sure as sugar would. Well...as soon as anyone outside Japan starts getting decent PS1 games, that is"

Obviously a good thing, if there's a fair price and a decent selection of PS1 games, it seems quite worth about $10/mo. (as long as you can keep the games after cancelling the subscription) Obviously, the rest of online will remain free.
Looking through some Kotaku comments, many suggest how Rock Band/GH III fans see it completely worth it, with unlimited paid DLC and all.
seems like a splendid offer to me, but as you said "as long as you can keep the games after cancelling the subscription"......if you dont get to keep the games, it would be dissapointing, but whatever, the world isnt perfect.
thanks for the info

I'm thinking they wouldn't allow you to continue. People would d/l all they want over one month, and come back 6 months later, do the same. Either that or they'd have to have long term subscription plans...
i thought this was going to be a 'PSN turns into Live' thing. But this sounds like an excellent idea!

That's what I first thought, but I'm glad that didn't turn out, that would really kill the PSN's advantage over XBL.
...PSN's advantage over Live? You mean the fact that it's free?
sorry but it still doesn't compare to Live quite yet, even if it is free.

Yes, it is it's major advantage that it is free, not that the overall service is better.
ide have to agree, PSN being free is indeed a HUGE advantage, but the LIVE is a much better experience. but alot of people would prefer free over quality

You have to remember though, the social experience may be better, but live is P2P, PSN has dedicated servers.
i dont see how they can make any profit selling all their content for $10. maybe this will only apply to PSN titles and they'll only be playable with an active subscription.

iirc, a price wasn't set.

im with you on that one, their profit will be low, seems that the only way they can make some cash is from like you said "playable with an active subscription"
