I completely agree with everything you've said. Especially about Galaxy, it was sad when it broke OoT's 9.6 rating on Gamerankings and technically became "The Greatest Game Ever". It shows how not only is Nintendo declining in hardcore games, but that hardcore gamers themselves are declining. I've played both PS3s and 360s (I own the latter)...they're incredible. I mean, seriously, they eclipse the Wii in terms of greatness no doubt. I'm just happy that there are still companies that realize what's happening to gaming, and, though financially might not be the smartest decision, continue on the path of making quality games for the minority of gamers dubbed "hardcore".

Outstanding article.
i havent played phantom hour glass, but i belive the whole motion of link and actions are used the stylus correct?

that sucks, IMO it wouldnt feel like a zelda game to me
Phantom Hourglass controls rock.
really? wow, im getting alot of mixed reviews for that game, especially in the control criteria....i dont know what to belive :S
Definitely a personal thing from what I understand. I'm thinking that if you've played a ton of LoZ's though, there's a larger chance that you won't enjoy the controls.
I don't like them. You have to hover your hand annoyingly above the screen with the stylus. After 15 mins. I'm dying
sounds like backbreaking work to play a video game, i wont be having any of that, thats why i chose the psp over the ds
Yea, I'm not a big fan of games that use the stylus CONSTANTLY. It either 1, gets my hand in the way as I try to keep from 2
2. Massive hand cramping.
What a bunch of sooks.
This is why I'm happy I got a 360.

It gives me a bigger variety of games. Which I like.
thats what i try to get across to some "NINTENDO FANBOYS" from the other forums i go to, they are to stubborn and they treat their wii like a god, little do they know they are missing out on a great gaming experience from sony and microsoft..... poor guys
Once i'm finished playing SMG (then beating again with luigi to get that Finale planet) i'll be bored, but once SSBB comes out I won't, and i'm sure with all it's features i'll be entertained for a while, until MK Wii comes out.
But even with those two cames, Nintendo needs to pick up the pase and concentrate on not just one or two games , but 5 or 6 to keep the Wii alive.

And I agree about the DS situation, the only games I have for it are NSM Pokemon: Pearl and the internet thing, I sold mysterious dungeon, and I got this game that my friend gave me that frankly, I just play for laughes because it is so gay, maybe i'll sell it too...
So my sister asked if she could play my Pokemon game and delete my file and I said sure, because that game gets real boring after the story part.

So the only video games I find myself playing now are TimeSplitters: FP(best FPS EVER!) and SMG.

The only hope for me after I get bored of SMG, SSBB, and Mario Kart is TimeSplitters 4, Free Radical thinks that they will probobly put it on the Wii, but remember what they said about Rock Band?, and now look! So if they do put TS4 on the Wii, I will be jumping for joy, let's just hope it's online (like TS2 and TS3 were on the Xbox and PS2) and let's hope that the controls don't suck.

Sometimes I find myself wanting a PS3, or maybe a 360.

P.S. Wow, when I looked at your post, I though 'Wall o' text', but then I got typing, heh.
I'm glad we all are able to see beyond fanboyism, that's a great thing.

Kassaioni, from what I understand, TimeSplitters 4 was slated to be a PLAYSTATION 3 exclusive.

I think we most can agree SSBB will be great (Baring they don't FUBAR the controls). The one issue I could see arising, however, is if the controls aren't tight (fortunately, there's several selectable configurations). I also have to wonder about Mario Kart Wii, as they may do the excite truck controls, or simply it may offer nothing beyond previous MKs, there really needs to be a new motivator to get a new version of the same game. (This is only the third SSB).
SSBB controls will be fine. SSBM plays like a charm so why would Brawl be any different? That doesn't make sense.

I haven't experienced any cramps or annoyances from gaming on my Wii. My only complaint is that Brawl is too far away, once that game comes out I'll be set for the rest of this generation with tournaments + online.

Hell, Melee lasted me 5 years and I already know I'm committed to Melee still this year.
How often do you guys play games? Phantom Hourglass has great controls. If your hand hurts after playing that game for only 15 minutes then you must have stamina issues that severely need addressing (not waggling the Wiimote enough?)

While sc7 has a lot of good points, the main thing wrong with this is that you always dismiss games created for casual gamers as 'crap'. They're not all that bad. Some of them are quite interesting. The point is you should play the games before you freak out about them being crap.

And Wii has plenty of interesting looking titles coming up. SSBB, Mario Kart Wii, No More Heroes, The Crystal Bearers, Animal Crossing Wii, Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed and many others are on their way to Wii consoles across the globe. Just give Nintendo some time to actually get some games out. Everyone needs at least a year before the really good games come out. Plus there's still plenty to play while you wait!

2008 is the year of the 3rd party on Wii. And online for Brawl Smile

True, I'm sure the GCN and CC controls will be great, I'm woried if motion is included, what the issues could arise.

Anyway, ninja, I do agree, some of the stuff is good, but I'm concerned that they are catering to a kiddie crowd/mini games. I don't care what anyone says, Carnival Games should never have had 500,000 sales. Brain age is actually fun, I've tried it, I'm just woried that core games won't be preserved because they're not selling all that well compared to some other released games.

but whos fault is it that the core games aren't selling that well? Its the fault of all those gamers who say that they don't even play their Wii anymore. Maybe if they played more of the Wii games there would be more games devoted to the core gamer.
bah, im not the least worried about the controls for ssbb, the controllers are going to be top notch, even the wiimote selection, the gamcuce and CC will be stellar aswell.

here why i think the controllers will be great for this game.

the game has been under development, for a LONG LONG time, they have had enough time to work out any kinks in the controllers (specially wiimote controllers, since those seem to be giving people loads of problems)
tho i personally will be using GC controller for this game.
But you see other games, that have had HORRIBLE controllers, but thats usually doe to the lack of time developers have had.
If you notice sites like IGN, Gamespot and any other review sites, wii games with good controllers usually have gotten high scores

resident evil 4
zack and wiki
mario galaxy------has some problems, BUT, very little
Metroid prime 3

and notice, the above games are games that have gotten loads of time under development

so i can rest my case, that the ssbb controllers will be stellar
i can attest to the awesomeness of playing Brawl with the Wiimote (though the GC controller will probably be far superior). It felt great and natural but took a little while to get used to (which is the standard for Wii games).

Well, the Core games really haven't been up to par either, and third party games are consistently lower rated than PS3/360 because of poor controls. Even if the controls are decent, graphics are either not the Wii's best, or simply other things limit games, and I think this is the problem. The Wii limits how immersive the games can get compared to the PS3 and 360 due to hardware, thus many flagship third party titles are ignored. Since it's closer to the PS2/PSP, it's seeing more games from those codebases, while PS3 and 360 are seeing games more like what we see on PC.
