try not to double post appolose. It can get you in trouble.
i don't see what everyone's whinning about. Plenty of great games are coming out for the Wii next year. I don't see the problem with its 2008 lineup. Some of you need to redefine the term 'gamer'
In case no one saw my edit:
EDIT:
The term "hardcore gamer" has been thrown around far too much on gaming websites/articles, and I think it has shifted meaning over the years. A hardcore gamer has nothing to do with the types of games played, but rather the time devoted to video gaming in general. There are/were many hardcore pokemon gamers, just like there are GTA ones and pacman years before. The only requirement is that it has to eat time, not how many ounces of digital blood was spilt or lead thrown.
You're wrong. A hardcore gamer is somebody that's obsessed with video games... Somebody that would ditch work, school, and all other responsibilities just to play video games. Somebody, who's so obsessed, that they get good, and expect a challenge from a rehash of an old series they played in high school, and found it challenging then, only to find that SMG has been...

DUMBED DOWN!
I find it disappointing that the observatory had no hidden stars in it, like SM64 where they had all those little hidden switches, and different caves and stuff to go to to get stars. Sure, they had the little Green-Star Triad Galaxy thing with the gimmicky levels, but that's not good enough for me. The fact that you get to play as Luigi after you get all the stars is pretty cool, but that's beside the point. SM64 was so much harder than SMG, or... dare I say it? *shudders* SMS! If they added in a little more difficulty like in SM64, that might just hold me on to the Wii. But until then, I complain about easy games!

Umm, so someone who spends large amounts of their life (i.e. time) playing them? Thanks for backing me...
Three hardly noticeable grammatical errors, minor ones. That shouldn't stand in the way of a well structured rant.
I still like the wii and ds no matter what. I can still have hours of entertainment with the wii and ds.

i don't think he way trying to change our views on the wii and ds.
the porpuse of the rant was to point out where he thinks the wii flaws in.
if he were trying to make us "dislike" the wii, im sure there would be alot of people flamming him, but since we all understand that it was a personal opinion post, many of of praised and respected his post.
wow...
i would express my true feelings but you all would become angry with me

You are opining. I'm speaking factually.
"Hardly noticeable" is relative to the individual reader.
I really don't think three insignificant (as opposed to unnoticeable) grammer errors merit discrediting an entire post on all levels.
after reading SC7s post....i dont know where i stand with the wii. since we're all being honest here i still enjoy the wii and playing the game system along with some choice titles. maybe cause im a girl? nah- im just not that big of a "hard core gammer" that i can appreciate an xbox360 than a nintendo wii with big brain academy.
i begin to agree that the wii will decline since it is a gimmick and im so glad someone finally labled it. i couldnt find a word to discribe the wii for the longest time and i used to say "childish" but i knew it was wrong.
i dont think the wii is as progressive as all the other companies. kids are into the big TVs with the graphics and the wii cant provide....just look at the ports.....
as much as i enjoy playing the wii its going to be lame after a while....dont get me wrong i like playing it and have an awesome time but ya know what? i only enjoy playing it when i have friends over. seldom rarely do i play by myself on the system as if i would with ps2 for hours on end.
shame really....

When you get a masters degree in Comp Eng, work 8 hour days, and type this, then you can try and act like my superior. Until then, keep it to yourself.
The Wii is turning into a DS for the home. 2008 is shaping up to be a DUD year. I don't care what anyone says, I'm not getting psyched to race Go-Karts and have Cupid fight a Pokemon doll. Not while 360 and PS3 owners are getting mind blowing games at a ridiculous clip.
I have no qualms with the GFX. I bought a Wii, not a 360. I realize the limitations. I was however hoping that there would be more developers working on better games for the Wii, not just "party" fodder.
ROFL.
Then why the Hell did you buy a Wii? It was a gamble from the beginning to expect great third party support. By the time we knew all we could about the Wii all the GOOD games were heavily in development for the other consoles.
And if you don't like Nintendo's own franchises then there is your first mistake, because they will always be of a higher quality than that 3rd party trash.
Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy will be the best games on the Wii til Smash comes out. And then we'll have to wait til Zelda to get a game that tops it.
I lost respect for your post when you referred to Smash as "Cupid fight a Pokemon doll", seriously. At least refer to them with respect if you want your post taken seriously.
Oh, and Drew. Stop being so casual. We can be hardcore gamers and own a Wii and complain about the crappy casual direction Nintendo is skipping down.
Everyones losing sight of this thread and flaming each other.
It was just the opinion of one person. He's not right, or wrong.
You can agree, or disagree, either way, there's nothing to post about but your own opinion.
Sure back it up, but that doesn't mean you have to make other people follow your opinion. After all, why would you care if they did or not?
Yes but nothing has gone too far. Leave this thread open. It's been a while since we've had such a good open argument. I don't want this thing getting locked because Johnny likes 360 and Mikey likes Wii. Let people express themselves, this is the most valuable thread we have right now, and dare I say... fun!
whos jonny and micky?!?! lets kick their asses!!
no really on a serious note- keep the flaming to a minimum. i think this is a great thread. lets try to supress the fanboy [or girl] in all of us huh?
Well, I think here's something to consider, LMX. You like Nintendo franchises, as do I. I've always been a Mario/Zelda/Metroid fan. What I don't like, is any of the Nintendo iterations on the Wii. AFAIC, the newest batch for the Wii are all either weakened, or the controls are lame.
I bought the Wii primarily for Nintendo franchises, but the more I play, I'm seeing if those games aren't up to par, what's the point. As for the DS, New Super Mario Bros wasgood, everything else is pretty disappointing. Again, that's an opinion.
My main goal with the creation of this thread was to create an open discussion about a lot of the feelings many others on the internet are feeling. Many were able to accurately agree with me, as I've heard many agree to the various points I've made.
I know there are some that disagree with my points, and that's fine to refute them. Also, please note that there are quite a few positives about Nintendo that I feel, but as a whole, I'm disgruntled, and I do regret both the Wii and DS purchases. What has me concerned right now in this thread is anybody who can't see that Nintendo does anything wrong. It's quite ok for you to disagree with any subjective points that I've made, however, to simply say "I love all the systems, don't like don't buy!!!", is juvinile at best. Please, if you're not going to make a valid point, then don't post, same goes for anyone who does agree.
Anyway, so far, there's been tremendous discussion in this thread, and I'm really impressed on how a Wii forum can openly debate such merits of the console without fanboyism or flaming.
PS: To supporters of Brawl, it is one title to look forward to, but my opinion has always been, hold on to my Wii and 6 games I don't enjoy to buy one more, or sell it and get a good 7 or 8 PS3/360 games.
I see that Nintendo do wrong, and I often criticize them for it. Its what I do, I dislike Nintendo and have since around the beginning of the N64 era but I have remained loyal to a couple of their franchises.
I have not got a massive problem with the Wii iterations of their franchises. Mario Galaxy revived Mario after that disgraceful Sunshine effort (That game sucks) and Metroid gave us a fun control scheme and at long last our first taste of actual Metroid story and voice acting.
And regarding your question with Brawl, it all really depends on how much you loved Melee's multiplayer. Because its going to be that, only with an online option.
So in otherwise, it'll be freakin' awesome. Unless your Mr. Luben II.
Mario Galaxy revived Mario after that disgraceful Sunshine effort (That game sucks)
I don't get what's the big problem with everyone about Sunshine. Sure, having Mario use a gadget was kind of disgraceful for a gaming icon and the tropical setting restricted the levels, but the game was still fun. I think if they labeled it as a spin off rather than a sequel to Mario 64, the comments would've been better...
And, uh, to be on topic... I understand your point about how the first party games are made easier for a more broad auditory, but I don't get the "third party producers start making games with boring and/or overused wiimote controls, sue Nintendo!" thing. I mean, every platform with a little more popularity than usual will get that, it's inevitable. I don't get why is that Nintendo's fault?
