Ok so for about a month now i have not been able to use iTunes. I had iTunes for a while and i decided i would try and download the new update in case there was anything cool. I downloaded the update and installed iTunes and was not able to open iTunes. Still now i can not open iTunes. When i double click the icon it turns the pointer into a sand dial for a fraction of a second and then just stops. I checked my Task Manager and under Processes it shows iTunes running but it does not show it in Applications. I checked the Apple website for help and tried just about every troubleshooting idea but no luck.

I would really appreciate it if i could get some help so rep will be given to anyone who gives me advice that leads to the running of my iTunes again. Thanks in advanced.
Erm, did you try uninstalling, and then reinstalling it?
Yes, about 5 mins ago was my fourth try at that lol.
Did you try Ending the Process in the "Processes" tab?
Yes, actually if i had a nickel...haha
Okay, I phail.

D:

I hope you get it back up and running!
Thanks! Anyone else have any advice? Sc7?? lol
hmm

I remember having this problem, I can't remember how I fixed it though, I think I wiped my PC...
Snare....... back?

Yes this happens to me a lot. If you change the Windows options at all i.e. MSCONFIG etc. iTunes and Quicktime spaz out.

First copy your iTunes Music folder in iTunes in My Music, which is:

My Documents > My Music > iTunes > iTunes Music

and put it somewhere safe (I recommend desktop)

The you go to:

Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > iTunes > Change > Repair

Then after it reinstalls (including wiping your iTunes folder), just copy your iTunes Music folder (the one I asked you to copy) back into its folder. Don't worry it works. What you said happened to me at least six times.

Good luck Smile
WOW this happened to me just a few day ago, i think i just restarted my pc and then it worked. Or try what TCF ^ just said!
Hey TCF i tried it but still no luck. Ill give you rep anyway because it was worth a shot. I think i might have a virus on my laptop so ill have to check that out later. Thanks.
Wow that's strange Snare... Because everything you just mentioned is exactly what happens to me when I start messin' with things. And it always works for me....

Okay how about instead of hitting "change", hit "remove" instead, and then reinstall iTunes by downloading it from Apple.com

Make sure to copy the iTunes folder like I said though Smile
OK so i just got done with running a scan on my laptop and i found a ton of viruses so i was kinda happy because i was hoping that was it. So i turn on my laptop and a message pops up saying that iTunes couldnt run because of missing files so download it again. So i was just like "Hey it noticed its not working!" Again i reinstalled it but no luck. Ill try your idea again TCF. Any other help would reallllllyy be appreciated!

Edit: Retried your idea TCF but my laptop is still not done hating me.
Well, here's a basic method that I think may help some errors that probably can't be seen on the surface (registry, CLID, etc).

Uninstall iTunes
Restart
Install CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com)
Run CCleaner (Registry scan, not cleaner)
Restart
Re-install iTunes

Give that a shot. What CCleaner does is it scans the registry, and if a program is no longer installed, it will whipe all entries system wide, as well as non-registry entries in other areas of the system, effectively eliminating any corrupted file left behind (if file is corrupted, the uninstaller likely left it because it failed a checksum). So what this will do is clean all traces of iTunes, and the fresh install will try to act like it's on a new install of Windows where iTunes never existed.

Other than this, I think your only hope may be to backup your music and other files, and whipe/re-install windows.
Thought this would help after i read it but it didnt. It still just loads and doesnt open when i try to. And it still shows it as running in the task manager. I just dont know what to do. Ill give you rep when i get around to it.
Right I don't think I did wipe.

You have to uninstall quicktime
restart
uninstall itunes
restart
install again.

I'm not 100% on the method but it's deff something to do with quicktime if I remember right.

The fact is that iTunes for Windows is too heavily reliant on Quicktime, that should there ever be something that "interrupts" that harmony, all hell breaks loose. Apple should start iTunes for Windows all over again, and get rid of Quicktime all together for Windows.
