Square Enix just sent over an updated release schedule for early 2008, and it's certainly jam packed with some interesting titles to say the least. One of the highlights obviously being Crisis Core for the PSP in March.
Stay tuned for more info and read on for the official release.

Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of Square Enix interactive entertainment products in North America, revealed today its first offerings for 2008, with entries that will launch fans into a fast-paced, action-packed new year. This latest announcement brings forth four new titles for the coming year, including releases for the Nintendo DS, PSP (PlayStation Portable) system, and the Wii.
DRAGON QUEST SWORDS: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors sets the action in motion as the newest entry in the franchise that has captivated more than 43 million fans worldwide. The premiere RPG franchise makes its debut on the Wii as an immersive action-adventure accessible by players of all ages.

Following suit are powerful, engaging adventures in the handheld arena. FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: Ring of Fates for the Nintendo DS offers endless entertainment with its fun-for-all multiplay feature, while CRISIS CORE™ -FINAL FANTASY VII- for the PSP system reunites fans with the most recognized RPG characters created by world-renowned character designer Tetsuya Nomura. Nomura's latest designs lend a hip, urban edge to THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU, a stylish new RPG title for the Nintendo DS.

Warm ups are recommended for fans who intend to take on these exciting new challenges that are headed their way!

I think this line-up lends credibility to the theory that these days Squeenix is afraid to make anything other than Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Mana games. Come on Squeenix, how about a new Chrono game? Or better yet, what about trying some more entirely new IPs?
i've not heard of The World Ends With You, so obviously there's something new. there's also a game coming to PS3 and 360 at some point called The Last Remnant which is a new IP from SE

i agree mostly tho. i don't think SE's made a new IP game in years, but then again, Nike hasn't changed their name. the name is what sells the shoes and SE's names are what sell their games
Not a great line up..since its only 3 games lol.

But you didn't name the tons of other Square games..its alright though.

Crisis Core for march? *gets PSP when the game is released*
Why no mention of the FFCC games for Wii, why is SE hiding them D: And the fact that the DQ Wii game isn't a RPG kind of takes away from what fanbase of over 43 million has grown to know and love...
never heard of crisis core....ill have to go and find some more info to see if i should get it for moi psp
Meh, and Lost Odyssey are coming from FF makers, Nobuo on Music, and Sakaguchi or something is making the game, and its FANTABULUS.

But im a FF whore I get anything.

Win.

Do my eyes decieve me... a new IP?

I don't know how to get a new IP. Nor Do I really know what it is. XD

Lost Odyssey = RPG for this year.

Unless FFXIII Is released of course.
Whats Lost Odyssey for? PS3?

P.S. An IP is a series of games.
ie. FF is an IP, (an old one) Metroid, etc.
For 360, check out my thread on it. Comes out Feb 12th.

I like to change it around a lil bit, trying out some FPS' lol.
IP = Intellectual Property. it's the basic concepts of a game which continue from one game to another, or even a name which follows a series. for example, Final Fantasy is a long running IP even tho most games have nothing to do with each other. i can't think of a series which followed the same story or basics of the game but changed the name

i believe Final Fantasy Adventures on the GameBoy was an installment of the Mana series, so technically it'd be part of the Mana IP while having a different name

Correct. Another example would be Adventure Island for the NES, which was really just a port of Wonder Boy for the Master System under another name (after that, the two series went in separate directions).

Not really a fantastic year. Only title that stands out is Crisis Core. Next year will be better (assuming they stick to schedule and release the XIII games)

And who knows? Hopefully announce a FF-VII remake for the PS3.

They keep denying it, but I bet they'll do a remake. It's about the only way left that they can milk the FFVII cow any further.

They have to. It's the only good way to end the FF-VII Compilation. If they don't, they are idiots. It'd sell the PS3.
The remake has to be done. lol.

Eventually when FF VS XIII is out and there not as busy.
I'm more interested in seeing the Dragon Warrior/Quest IX, their IV, V, VI remakes and the FFIV remake for the DS.

And of course more of the Chrono series would be nice too.
