Hi guys. I really need some more RAM for my PC. Before I go PSU, CPU or Video Card shopping I need to do this basic upgrade. Running Flight Simulator X uses up 100% of my RAM according to CPU & RAM Meter (good program by the way) and so here I am.
This looks very appealing to me, and so I'd like to get it, but as it's my first time buying a RAM upgrade I thought I'd make sure.
Here is my current situation:
I have two DDR2 RAM slots that are free, and both are the same color. So basically once I get this product (below), what do I do with it? Is the product two 512MB DDR2s or just one 1GB DDR2? And if it's the latter, what kind of way should I connect it, or is it just PnP?
Thanks

You pretty much just stick it in. It's just 1 stick.
Okay cool. D4rk just confused me telling me that I'd have to run certain settings. (AA, AF? No wait, that's GC settings isn't it...)
Don't worry I've taken out and replaced DDR2 cards before. They came loose and the 3&4 Diagnostic Lights on my computer started flickering. I had to call Dell and they guided me through it. Easy.
So just slide in and instant RAM increase? I presume so, because once just for an experiment I took out one of the cards, which left me with 512MB, the BIOS just launched and informed me that my MoBo settings had changed, "Click any button to continue"
Easy. And... fun? Like lego... but better.
P.S. Also, my current 2x512MB DDR2 cards are clocked at about 500MHz, and the one I want to buy is 667MHz. I presume that won't cause any compatibility problems will it?
P.P.S. Well, I just bought it, so I guess this is it

Make sure the PC's off first.
Make sure the PC's off first.
.................. jeese nearly forgot about that one -_-
And so there's no modes I need to switch on or anything? Since the new RAM isn't going to be dual-channel.
Naw, it's all autodetected.
*yay*
Unfortunately my original RAM is 5xxMHz compared to my new 667MHz RAM the 5xx is going to be the standard speed, but I was thinking that I might be another 667 in the next few months, so "near-future proofing" technically. Also the 667MHz one I bought was cheaper than a lot of slower ones with the buyer also having good rep

Make sure your mobo can support the higher speed. FYI, you might get better performance running 1GB at 667 rather than 1.5GB at 533mhz, depending on the situation and the bottleneck of the system. Just something to think about.
Make sure the PC's off first.
It's a lot more fun if the PC is on. It's even more fun to replace the processor fan while the PC is on! *
*actually, it's not really all that fun at all, so please do not do it, or at least do not blame me.
Don't worry Joker I've seen enough YouTube videos to put me off that... Fire FTW!
And don't worry my MoBo can take it. Also it's 2GB at 533, over 1GB at 533, so it's naturally going to improve
