1up slips Wii Fit release date into article?

Earlier today we reported on Wii Fit breaking 1 million in sales over in Japan. 1up reported on the story as well, but reader Doug noticed that they mentioned a release date within the article.

Wii Fit is expected to be one of the year’s biggest sellers both in Japan and abroad. North Americans can expect to see the game on May 20th… by which time presumably they’ll have that ‘plus-sized’ Western balance board properly stress tested and ready for use.

Nintendo’s press room lists Wii Fit’s NA release as ‘TBA’. I don’t see why 1up would pick a date out of thin air, and the 20th does fall on a Tuesday. It looks like this might be the real deal.

hope this is not somewhere else...btw the site search sux
Interesting...That does seem like a legit date. But still, I wouldn't hold my breath until Nintendo officially announces the release date. Who knows, maybe 1up slipped up and accidentally released the date before Nintendo gave the OK?
May 20th '09 in Europe/Australia then.
I'm not even gonna try this game, I havn't played wii Sports in months!
Even though this date has not been comfirmed it sounds like a proper release date to me. If only we could get a Wii Fit release date here in the UK. Not that I'm definitely buying it, but I'm curious...
I wonder if this will be a good game. I hope that is the real realese date.
Well with Wiifit, what you see is what you get. At the end of the day its just a balanced board with various exercises and mini-games. So its just personal perference. If your into this kind of thing, its a great game. If your not, then you could see this as a bad game...I like the idea. Its just not for me.
i can garantee you my father will be getting this....rhm, he's um getting a little wide around the edges......
Good find, we'll have to wait and see if it pans out.  I don't think anyone at this point is saying this is a must buy, but most have a curiosity about it. If it tracked a few real health items I'd be on board (ugh). But sadly it does not have the ability to detect body fat.
body fat monitors are built in to most bathroom scales now for 20 bucks or so, i picked one up this week

but i understand the limitation you point out for wii fit as health equipment
I for one will be getting this "game". I'm not saying their aren't better ways of exercising and stretching, but it would seem like this one would be more interested and likely to be reoccuring.
and the skateboarding game should be pretty fun

Most don't track you weight and fat over periods of time, making them readily available via graphs and what-not from day one.  I've never seen a scale with body fat accurate to 0.1% that retains any number for less than $40 (most are 50-120).  That is what I would have wanted in Wii Fit.

On a side note, I've always been interested in storing a record of my weight/body fat. Last time I got it checked, I was 4%, but I've long since quit my rigorous exercise routine.

I'm likely far away from that now. I almost completely abandoned my exercise routine 9 months ago (just gotten lazy); I'd like to know where I'm at.
Hope Brawl kicks this piece of trash's ass.
thats if it ever gets released, you mean
Even if it doesn't its got more potential than Wii Fit.
that makes no sense
