The Nintendo "Wii" games were all actually running on Gamecubes at E3? That's what Nintendo fans are suggesting with some behind the scenes photos (thanks Penny Arcade). Imagine if the 360 games were running on an old Xbox at E3, or the PS3 games were running off of PS2s? I've heard of backwards compatability, but forward compatablity is a new one to me

If this is true, what will this mean for the respectability of Nintendo Wii; but, then again, it's just a rumor. Or maybe, the games aren't even fully completed, and those games were just like the dev-kits for games (and, if so, won't the graphics be twice as good when they're playing on the Wii itself?). So, some good news (maybe) rises out of the ashes of bad.

I was assuming everyone knew that E3 games were played on Gamecube/Wii hybrids? It might be part of their "last secret", the rumor that Wii graphics will be great. They did have working Wii's in the upstairs VIP section, but all of the Wii's on display were dev kits!

I think this is good news!
I agree with joker. If what we saw was a little taste and if the games will actually look better we may be in for a suprise. Actually this can only be good news for nintendo since they werent using the full power of the wii on display and people still loved it.

Now the glass half empty side:
Does this mean the wii is far from complete? will it still be released this year?... is the wii really a gamecube in a new casing?(PSX-Original PS1 and the PSONE- new sleek design of PS1).

We wont really know any of this untill the final system is shown and the final games are shown in their completed release state on a wii. I cant say this has put a damper in my excitement... actually now I want to know more. This excitement of sheer curiosity for eye candy would extend to any of the other 2 systems if it was the case for theirs just to show im not being biased =P.
games looked good on the floor at E3. so for the Wii they have to look 3 times better. Cant wait. wish it was out already.
This has been confirmed.
this is good news, they were only devkits so they were all work in progress. i'm very happy to know that about red steel specifically.
