I just went online and ordered 2 $40 coupons for my parents so that they can get a couple digital to analog converter boxes for a cheaper price once the analog signal is gone in 2009.

My parents have satellite television, but also use an antenna to watch local stations. So now they'll have the converter boxes, but won't they also have to purchase a digital HDTV antenna also?

I don't see how this wouldn't be the case, because a digital signal can't be caught by an analog antenna...


If I'm totally wrong with my assumption please let me know

i was under the impression antennas could receive hd alright but boxes were needed to convert signal for older tvs

i also thought the deadline had been pushed (FCC) to 2012 or something like that

i may be off base on both

you are correct, I just found the info myself and yes their analog antenna will work fine. Thank you drew for your info.
