Without Smash I wouldn't own a Wii.

And to be fair Joker, even though Nintendo have pushed out those first party megatons... they have all been dumbed down versions of the games. Twilight Princess was a piece of cake, Metroid Prime 3 hardly took any effort and Mario Galaxy only got hard after the actual story. So I was left somewhat underwhelmed by those games. They were fun and I enjoyed playing them at the time but that is really about it. I've gotten more enjoyment from Super Mario 64, Wind Waker and Super Metroid.

You can't really compare the Wii's crap games to the PS2. Because even though the situation is simliar, the PS2 had some REALLY REALLY good third party games like MGS3, FF-X, KH1 + 2. Wii just doesn't have third party titles even CLOSE to the caliber of those ones. Again, its the fault of the developers, but they want to make easy cash to further fund their PS3 or 360 endeavors maybe? Lol, amusing thought.

Anyway, my Wii is a MP3 + SSBB + MKWii console. My future PS3 is going to be where I spend my real game time with massive games like MGS4, FF-XIII, FF VS-XIII and KH3. They are going to consume my world and offer me a lot more game time than Nintendo's first party games would have (even though I really, really wanted them to give me heaps of game time)

Maybe next generation Nintendo will go back to the hardcore gamers.
I can relate to you on this one Mana because I feel the same way. I'm currently saving for a second console aswell as my Wii, and I'm going to get a 360. My Wii just doesn't give me enough playing time at the moment. I'm happy playing GHIII but that is the only game I play. I'll become more attached to my Wii again when Brawl is released, but until then I'm saving for a 360 to keep me going.

You really can't judege the Wii yet. Wait till around this time next year to see what the games are like. Sure there's a lot of crap now, but that's only because the developers are currently hard at work on other titles that will appeal to the hardcore crowd. YOu're just getting impatient. Honestly, can't a gamer just play games? Do they really have to have a certain niche or else they're 'casual' gamers? Just because every title isn't a shooter or ZOMG killing spree means that it isn't worth your time? That's just narrow minded thinking in my book.

...and I would call your way of thinking "denial". But! Know that I don't judge Nintendo solely off a whim. Looking at what's making them the most money right now (shovelware) I see no reason for them to jump off that wagon just to serve the often fickle gamer public. After all, why bother dumping resources into a thoughtful work like Mario Galaxy when you can sate the appetite of Joe-Public with Wii-Fit?

It's depressing how poorly Mario Galaxy sold inside of Japan. Doubly true for No More Heroes. It's like Nintendo wants to kill the very crowd that helped make the company into what it is today.

I just don't know when Japan got this massive craving to play more casual games... did the DS start it?

I'm now a huge Guitar Hero fan because I got it for the PS3. I have never played the Wii version until today. My friend brought over his Wii Guitar and game and I gave it a try and.........I hated it. I was ok with the guitar but the screens looked pretty terrible, however I could look past the graphics. I couldn't look past the terrible sound though because that's what this game is about. The sound was bad and many times it lost sync for some reason. The only good thing that came out of it was I finally got the chance to play with an actual guitar and not the controller, which I've been using and have been able to beat medium with it. I'm definitely picking up the guitar for my PS3 version now.

That may have been a disc problem. I've played GH3 on Wii and not had any problems with sound sync. Maybe I was lucky... but I haven't experienced any of those problems.

gawd i hope not, leave that niche market for Sony/MS to duke it out

It seems Nintendo has found its formula for success and if it isnt broken why fix it?

the DS is fun, the Wii is fun, and selling out worldwide like crazy...ain't it cool

Yes, I can see where you are coming from Mana. But since I've not experienced the 360 or PS3 version, I don't expect anything better when I'm playing it on my Wii. I'm guessing the 360 and PS3 versions look awesome though.

See, you would say that because you are a casual gamer.

I say let Nintendo make their money they lost on the GCN back on this casual bullcrap. Then next gen make a real console that actually stands next to its rival consoles in every way. THEN things will be good again.

I say this but know it won't happen... because Nintendo is too retaded to do this. And will probably feed upon the wallets of the casuals again.

Wii Fit 2 anyone? *sigh* Nintendo used to be cool.

You're both sort of correct...

Nintendo want to make money, it's a business. They found a formula for success in the wii and DS and of cause they want this to continue and no doubt it will, but its first party titles also appeal to both hardcore and casual making it a secondary console for the hard core gamers which seals yet more sales.

Either Nintendo tries going for gamers and risk another gamecube or they 'carry on casual' and make money.

Once all the casual gamers get their games, nintendo should treat the hardcore gamers.
Don't get your hopes up. Its easier for Nintendo to appeal to the casual audience... they don't expect much in terms of games xD
nope i'm a midcore gamer...remember

screw the hardcore, they are all a bunch of whiny fickle babies and are impossible to please...nintendo has figured it out, hardcore gamers are more trouble than they are worth
So Nintendo are over actual gamers? That's okay. I mean because if they continue this road then they'll probably kill their good franchises and then the hardcore won't even need them anymore.

So glad I'm buying a PS3.
dont let the door hit you on the way out...
I'm not leaving just yet. The Wii has one good game left, Smash. After that we'll see what happens. Smash should last the rest of the Wii's lifespan just like Melee did on the Cube.

But real mature, Drew.

*thumbs up*
*sits back and watches the heated discussion*

The Wii still has 'good' first party left, Star Fox. After that we got nothing, third parties have been poor.
Star Fox. There hasn't been a good Star Fox game since Star Fox 64.
The problem for me is the lack of fun one-player games out for Wii. After all of the praise that Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 got, including IGN's "OMFGBestShooterEverLOL" Award, I decided to buy it. The only word I can use to describe it is "disgust". The Campaign was repetitive, boring and ridiculously simple... on hard mode. Online was awful as well.

You know those games you get literally glued to? Like a lot of the old classics. I genuinely have not found one on Wii yet since Twilight Princess, and it's been over a year. At the moment Wii seems like a toy to me, and I hate this feeling. I'm not going to get rid of my Wii, otherwise I would have no reason to be a WiiLoaded Reporter, now would I?

Sad
I disagree somewhat with you Cosmic. I found myself glued to the TV set for a few days with the likes of Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy. But after they were finished there was no real desire to go back and finish them again (Besides MP3 which at least had "Hyper Mode" to tempt me)

So as a result I've been playing 60+ hour games on my PS2 like FF-XII, KH2 and various of long games. And occasionally gone back to my GCN for the likes of SSBM, WW and MP1.

Wii *might* get lucky this year or next and get some really good single player games. But I feel its hardcore gone the way of the gimmicky party toy.
