Star Fox. There hasn't been a good Star Fox game since Star Fox 64.

There's always Nintendo to come in and fix the series rather than ship it out to some low quality developer although myself I am favouring Factor 5 to be producing StarFox.

Its possible. And it might actually turn out good, so long as they don't try and emulate the Star Wars games. Which were mildly fun but ultimately boring in the long run.

Right!

They have experience in the genre and just patching up the rouge squadran engine should work out. In their star wars games they didn't force on foot missions, they were optional...

I was saying I got bored of the Star Wars games in general. The main thing I don't like about Star Fox games nowadays is story. That really needs to be fixed up.

Gameplay based of Rogue Squadron may work fine but it'd need to be seen first.

Story never was the strong point of starfox in my view. The whole 'Your daddy is kidnapped', 'opposite team' and such...

But real mature, Drew.

thanks bud, right back atcha

i'm wondering if some of the longer games in the pipeline, tales of symphonia, okami, bully (a port but with extras) force unleashed...are these the type you are looking for on the wii

or are you just convinced the wii is a smash machine and thats it?

They show hope. But developers need to work harder than that.

Why would I want Tales of Symphonia when I could wait a bit longer for superior games like Final Fantasy XIII or Kingdom Hearts 3? Okami is one of the few games I'm considering getting since I never played the PS2 version. I hate Bully and anything Rockstar makes. And Force Unleashed is meh. The more powerful consoles will have better stuff.

The Wii is currently a Smash and Kart machine. Until F-Zero is announced.
The truth is though, the Wii may have a relatively high amount of party casual games, it still is a small percent compared the 400 games out right now. Nintendo has a games from everyone of their biggest franchises excluding Starfox, and more are to come. Likewise, many "hardcore" games like No More Heroes and Red Steel are being released as well. The problem is developers are many times focusing too much on the motion controls and not quite enough on the overall game. That is what plagued Red Steel, the aiming was very good for a launch game, but that took away from the polish from the levels and mechanics. So what happens are solid games are coming out that consumers won't even consider because it got 5 out of 10 on Game Informer.

But another thing to mention, the party games coming out are still usually pretty good. Wii Sports is still the best use of the Wii remote, and games like WarioWare and Mario Party, while not quite as good as previous games, are still a fun time. Is their bad games? Or course there are, but the important thing to note is that the quality of a game is all based on perspective of the player.

And the last point I want to make, is that as consumers, we have the ultimate choice to buy a game or not. I don't like FInal Fantasy very much, so what do I do? I don't play them. If all you see on the system is bad party games, then you are not putting in the research you need to find the "hardcore" games that appeal to you. And hey, why not try out that "crappy" party game? You might like it. You'd be suprised how good a game like WarioWare or Cooking Mama really is.

And for you Lm-X, it really is easy to generalize a system when you only look at the established franchises. Plenty of individual properties are being released, and if all you can think about is how the new Final Fantasy must be better, then of course the game wont be any good. Just because a game releases for $20 doesn't mean the game lost $30 worth of quality. (and don't drag native currencies into this, you know what I mean) The number of roman numerals after the title doesn't have anything to do with how good the game is either.

Ok, that must be a joke because the majority of games on the Wii currently are party games. Sure there are the main Nintendo franchises and they normally are good but they also normally come out once per lifecycle of a console...

Yes, I agree Wii Sports is still has the best use of the Wiimote out of all of the current games. The problem with that is that it shipped with the N.A. Wii and it was over a year ago. I don't think a system's best use of it's hardware be the first one that is released. They should be improved on as developers get the hang of them but that is not being the case. We are constantly seeing tacked on controls that you just end up shaking (waggling) the wiimote to do whatever.

That's the problem. We (Wii owners) don't have choice. We have very little choice in fact. You say you don't like Final Fantasy games but many people do like them and they should be able to choose to play it. Does the Wii get FF games? No, they get spinoffs. You also say we should try those "crappy" party games and we may like them. I happen to like the party games but I also like other games as well and I get tired of only one kind.

That's my 2 satang.

I think the problem with a majority of Wii owners who call themselves 'hardcore' don't even bother with some of those games. They miss out on jewels because it's a party game or something like that. It could be a genuinely fun game but 'hardcore' gamers will pass it up cause it either isn't an established franchise or it doesn't look 'mature'. To me that just means that true gamers are dying out. What happpened to having fun in video games? Why does it take superior graphical technology before anyone can have any fun without complaining about something?

Tales of Symphonia looks like it could be a great RPG. So what if FFXIII is better? Can't you just play the game? Or is it impossible for anyone to have fun without it being a 'hardcore' title?
Can someone please close my topic. It's turning into something that it wasn't meant to be. If anyone has anything further they want to add then please do so in the following thread.

I may enjoy established franchises but don't put me in a boat full of people who don't like new things. You think I hate Zack and Wiki or NMH? No, I think they are great for people who enjoy those games. I just don't feel particularly hyped to check them out (having said that I may be renting Z&W soon)

As for what you said about FF. Its not just that, its me saying that I have more faith in the FF franchise than the new ToS game. Why? Because I'm not a ToS person, I'm an FF person. Again... I may rent it but truth be told if I'm going to play an RPG I'll generally see what SquareEnix has to offer.

FF-XIII could suck. SquareEnix aren't Gods. I just have more interest in it than ToS.
