Nintendo split in three at GDC
With the Game Developers Conference coming February 18th, Nintendo has recently announced that they will be dividing this year's conference into three different sections. Two of these sections will hold Nintendo's biggest games of the year, Wii Fit and Super Smash Bros Brawl. The other session will be a discussion focused around Nintendo’s hardware.

In the "Building Characters" session Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of Smash Bros, will be sharing his experience he had while developing his latest masterpiece, Brawl. He will expose the many challenges he has come across when attempting to put such a wide array Nintendo characters together, while maintaining the integrity of the original Smash characters and game design. Mashahiro will reveal how he tackled this truly unique game series.

Takashi Aoyama of Nintendo's Network Group will be hosting the "Planning the Wii menu" session. In this time he will explain the journey of developing the Wiis hardware. The main focus and the many channels inside, including the Check Mii Out Channel and the Everybody Votes channel. Takashi intends to discuss how he and his team solved the many problems the Wii had,
including the newest challenge. WiiWare.

Takao Sawano will be discussing the journey he had when developing Nintendo's newest piece of gold, WiiFit. A game that monitors your body weight while you take part in many different activities including: Yoga, Skiing and other various exercises. Takao intends to show the instant challenge his team faced when attempting to make a game that offers fun and weight loss at the same time.

Look out for this event February 18th 2008.

Nice one Snake Smile

And Nomad, you'll be going right?
i'm supposed to be going. i was told i'd receive an email with the details and tickets regarding the conference, but i still haven't received said email. hopefully i'll get it soon as i need to reserve my hotel ASAP and can't until i know i'm going

supposing i do actually get to go, which of the 3 sections are people most interested in? i'll take a general poll and try to spend time at that section and report back my findings
If he is, I'll give him orders on how to deal with Sakurai after Japan's release of Brawl. If Ridley is there, thank him for me. If he isn't, place a curse upon him.
i'll see what i can do for ya LMX, but my curses don't seem to work, unless Thompson came down with a sudden serious case of a complete body rash
Well, a punch to the face could be considered a helpful hint for the next Smash game lol.
I say pay most of your attention to Brawl. You already know what WiiFit is all about, I think. Plus "Wii menu" can't be all that exciting.
Hey, Wii Menu might show off how channels are made though. And also they might mention a few things that are coming up.
I'd like to here more about Wii Fit. Mainly how well the balance board translates to on screen movement.

Most will want to hear about smash though...
I'd listen to all three, and check Smash the most, I doubt there'll be anything "good." Best case scenario we'll see a new character.
I'd want to listen to all 3, but Brawl is really all that matters to me.
Nice article, but I don't think anything about Wii from Nintendo will be all that exciting at GDC, third parties may have something up their sleeves though.

New Channels, More on the My Nintendo Channel,More Game Preview Channels, possibly.

But we'll know everything about Brawl by then, nothing he has to say would really be all that ground breaking.

basically my thoughts. i figured the majority of my time would be taken up by the 3rd parties, so i'd only be able to devote a small portion to Nintendo's mass of information, in which case i wanted to report the most widely requested information

That's because its the better game. Plus I don't really want to hear about a game like Wii Fit, because I don't want to help the fire spread.

3rd parties who may having something planed for Wii I can think of would be Square, EA, Ubisoft, and maybe Capcom & Activsion.

Yeah, god forbid a Wii game sells, that'll hurt the gaming business/Nintendo.
