IGN AU seems to think so. They have reviewed Nintendo's new underwater adventure Endless Ocean and gave it an 8.1(impressive) score. Endless Ocean has been out since been out in Japan since August, in Europe since November, released in AU this week. North American gamers can expect to test the waters out in Endless Ocean next week.

IGN AU''s Closing Comments:
Amazingly, simplicity and repetition really doesn't bring the game down – it's a solid and pleasant experience, with the same staggered, protracted pace as a game like Animal Crossing or even Pokemon Snap back on the Nintendo 64; in terms of depth, it sits somewhere between the two. It's a meditative experience that, like most of Nintendo's off-beat Touch Generations! titles, is niche from the get-go. If it sounds boring to you, then you'll probably find it to be so. If, on the other hand, pure exploration appeals, then Endless Ocean is a pearl.

This will bore most 'gamers' however it is nice simplicity that will interest people.

Looking for sharks with jaws soundtrack and theme will never get old.
This game is already out here in the UK but I've never played it. It just didn't look that interesting to me; however I'd never actually heard anything about the game so I suppose I never had the right to judge it.
I should rent it to see how it is. It can be a win-or-lose game.
The last EGM had a little hands-on report on EO, calling it a "nongame". Ultimately it sounds like this is a real snoozer for anyone who, you know, likes videogames:

It'd be like going to the Mushroom Kingdom just to grope all the Goombas and the Koopas...If I were to rate Endless Ocean on a scale between "biology class" and a "night dive in the actual ocean," I'd give it a "trip to Wal-Mart's aquarium aisle."

Pass.

Yea, that's pretty bad, something must be wrong with the IGN AU reviewers...
I'll wait to here from our IGN then.

I'm not saying one is right or one is wrong, just that there seems to be a majorly conflicting opinion. Have to wait until we see reviews from a few other sources, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Its like they said, if you think its going to be boring then it probably is. But I'd rate this as more interesting than trash like Wii Play or Wii Fit. Still won't buy it though.
I'm a PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) certified Rescue Diver. Which means I'm certified to both rescue you from under water AND search for the watch you dropped.

I'd rather just ACTUALLY go diving. Which, by the way, is AWESOME, if not a little pricey. I'm one certification away from Dive Master, at which point I can be employed to guide dives Smile

Haha, I like the way you labelled Wii Fit and Wii Play "trash".

I've not bought this game yet and even though there has been many good things said about it, I'm still not planning on buying.

not sure how you can call basically a $10 game like wii play or a game thats not even out yet as trash, think i will give it a chance
