New Wii Music Details Emerge
Wii Music has been one of those games that has stayed relatively in the shadows. We know it's coming, but then again we don't know when it's coming. Well this week we know it's coming and we've got some new details (if it's coming that is).
Recent information suggests that:
Overall I think we can only view this as a positive thing. Back when Wii was first shown off, it was "that music game" that among Wii Sports really caught everyone's attention. My only hope now for Nintendo is that they can pull this one off. As far as Wii Fit and the casual audience go together I cannot say; especially considering that the game is going to be at least $80 which at its best is hardly a consumer-friendly price.
This may be where Wii Music comes in. Music is a widespread thing and it's enjoyed by most people. The majority of Wii's target audience will have some form of interest in music, and so that will play a key role in shipping copies of the game as liberally as possible. Will it work? Only time will tell.

Wii Music has been one of those games that has stayed relatively in the shadows. We know it's coming, but then again we don't know when it's coming. Well this week we know it's coming and we've got some new details (if it's coming that is).
Recent information suggests that:
- - Gameplay will be centered on "Play Sessions". No details on what exactly this means, but the name suggests a form of career mode-lite, perhaps in the shape of the Guitar Hero III career with lists of songs increasing in difficulty to get through the portions of the game.
- There will be music from the Nintendo Sound Team included, so many of the old Nintendo jingles may just pop up. I can't imagine anything more fun than bashing along to some old Super Mario Bros. tunes with a pair of virtual drumsticks!
- Motion controls are going to take a big part in this game. While playing the trumpet you can alter the pitch of the brass tone by angling the Wii Remote at a higher or lower angle. Two Remotes are required for drumming, and guitar picking is pulled off with the C-button on the Nunchuk.
- Over 40 instruments are at your disposal, including Classical Guitars, Bass Guitars, Trumpets and even Marimbas! Now all I need to do is find out what a Marimba is. If you don't feel like being a musician, you can always be the musician's coach. That's right, the slightly more obvious of the Wii Music modes, the conductor, is right there for anyone to utilize.
- Six parts can be played at once on screen. Up to four human players (that includes grandma and grandpa) can play while being backed up by an additional two AI musicians. As long as I get the Marimba I'm happy!
- Replay options will be available, so that you can watch all of the music that you created.
- Release date for Wii Music currently stands at a less than positive "TBA 2008", so no queues for pre-orders just yet then!
