This February is all about Stereo
Why do people ruin things? A vague statement to make, but how about I give you the rest of the story?
Many of us bought Guitar Hero III when it came out for Wii. It was the first of its kind to ever hit a Nintendo console, and because of the Wii version's remote functionality it was destined to give us something different. But then the audio experts got their hands on it and they made a bold statement to buyers of the game everywhere. The statement? That the Wii version of RedOctane's masterpiece only supports monaural sound (one sound channel).
I guess you can't really blame them; they were correct. Technically speaking. we as consumers were conned into believing our version of the hit title supported full stereo and Dolby Pro Logic II virtual surround sound, something which seems drastically important in a music-based video game. After many of the public wrote in with concerned letters to Activision regarding this subject the company announced that they would be providing a service in which owners of the game could send their copy of Guitar Hero III in a prepaid envelope in order to receive a new, modified version. After a long wait we have finally received word from said company about this service, provided in an automatic email sent to subscribers of the Activision Guitar Hero III Support:
Seems like a step in the right direction, to say the least. A lesson to all video game developers; look after your mass market.

- "We wanted to provide you with an update regarding the status of the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Wii replacement discs. The game has been approved by Nintendo and is currently in manufacturing. We expect to have the replacement discs available in February. Once we have the discs, we will contact you and then proactively send you a prepaid return envelop with a game exchange claim form. You should return the completed form with your current copy of the game. Once we receive a completed claim form and game, we will send you the replacement disc. We thank you for your patience and support."
Seems like a step in the right direction, to say the least. A lesson to all video game developers; look after your mass market.
