So yeah I learned the hard way not to open up Super Mario Galaxy while distracted. I was just trying to open my file, and did so while I was playfully fighting with my boyfriend. I turned to look at him, still aiming my pointer at the screen and trying to navigate my way...
I press the pointer, its done. My boyfriend looks at me and asks in disbelief, "Did you mean to just delete that?"
DELETE???
99 stars. Gone.
Yeah, as you can imagine, I practically shook in my boots next time I went to play LoZ TP on my nearly finished file...(doesnt help that said bf is a merciless teaser and asked me "Are you SURE you meant to just hit..."PLAY" on that file?" Grrrrr.)
Nintendo puts those "Play" and "Delete" options waaaay too close if you ask me....
So yeah, all I could do is stare and laugh, kinda still in shock.

I think the only thing getting me through is the lesson that life goes on, and the fact that as I draw closer to the end of the game, I start getting nostalgic enough for the beginning that I often start a new file directly afterwards. Which I was excited to do with THIS game...with LUIGI....f*ckity f*ck f*ck.

yup. Also much like when I had 99 purple coins in a level with freezing water, and died after falling into the water in pursuit of the final coin. D'oh.

That does suck... I remember one time I accidentally deleted one of my datas on Harvest Moon (don't ask) and I lost everything... and then there's the problems with the action replay cheats and how they mess up the game.

It sucks to lose a data... you lose your mind...
That stinks. I tried to move my data to my sd card, then erase it from my wii. That didn't work so I put the sd card data to my wii and I lost half my game!!! What use is the sd card then.
That sucks. And just like my friend LinksDarkSide (friend from WC) I lost data on harvest moon. (another wonderful life)
But the worst thing data-related that happened to me, is that on LoZ:TP, I forgot to get the big key in the temple of time, But I stuck the statue that you can move back, and I needed the statue to get the big key, And the statue didnt budge, So after swaring at my wii, game disk, and 'mote and 'chuck, I restarted. I am now in lakebed temple. Again.

Ha ha yeah too true, lucky me that my bf is a programmer and gaming nerd...so I got a little sympathy. But then he told everyone where he works cause he thought it was just that damn funny....so somewhere out there is a legion of either hysterically laughing or completely sympathetic nerdies that I havent even met yet....
Should it be in the Mario section? From looking at my LZ TP file, as I described, its clear that Nintendo puts the Play and Erase options WAY too close! I guess thats more the issue than the fact that it was Mario. Could have easily happened with my LoZ file, had I been playing that instead.

Ah, yes. LZ TP had more than one bug, then, because there was also an issue with saving after the Bridge of Eldin falls apart. Thanks for saying something, I havent ventured into the Temple of Time yet.

This all kind of reminds me of just yesterday. I was playing Fancy Pants Adventure 2 on Newgrounds (best 2D platformer in years). You have to golf a snail shell into a hole somewhere in a level to earn new pants.
I literally spent 45 minutes golfing this shell. I got to the hole, missed it, but it came back to me, so I went to just playfully stomp it by jumping on it, and when I did this, it stomped right through the ground I was standing on, all the way down to the bottom of the level.
I closed the window and cried a little.
