Activision screws up big time

Are you one of the people that were un-happy with your copy of Guitar Hero III because it only supported Mono sound? Then you must have signed up for a replacement disc online. If so then your e-mail address you used to sign up with could be exposed! Activision have made a huge error; when giving out status e-mails they managed to include the e-mail address of every other person who signed up for a new disc. Yes, Activision have handed out your e-mail address to hundreds and possibly thousands of people.

"In just one of the e-mails that was forwarded to us, an impressive 860 recipient e-mail addresses were listed in the mail's 'To' field, ensuring that all who received updates on their replacement discs for the Wii version of Guitar Hero III had access to the e-mail addresses of the rest."

If you are one of the victims and want to address a complaint, then contact the company's Business and Legal Affairs/Privacy Policy department at (310) 255-2000.

All I can say is D'oh! I can see where it would be faster on their part to do that but still...
LOL.

Activision = FUNNY.
I signed up for this and it is true that I received some weird spam lately, but maybe it only happened in north America so hopefully I'm safe.
wow activision can't cath a break, but i don't really see any real problems coming from this.
I know it may not seem like a huge problem. But I'm guessing that most of the people who did sign up for the replacement disk, who gave their email address online, won't be too impressed with Activision.
yea ppl tend to over-react to things. i mean they didn't give away any of the other information, such as Name, Address, or Phone #?

Considering the massive amount of spam I receive (in spite of being filtered through two filters before hitting Outlook, which then filters again for junk mail) due to having a public email address (for this website), I usually use my personal NON FREE email address for companies like this to contact me, to ensure they come straight through without trouble, along with personal and professional contacts to contact me. I pay 5.99 per month to use this email address on an exchange server, along with yearly fees. I plan on having this email address virtually for life, and would like to keep it as spam free as humanly possible. It really, really upsets me when someone sends me and 5 other friends of theirs an email using the TO line instead of the BCC line. If some company sent my personal email address with 800 people, I would be highly irate.
