I don't have a problem with the number. It leaves more oppurtunities for the next game.
Let's do some pattern analysis:

Um... FELX. That part where he *hints* at Ridley is sadly nothing. The shot he shows is the end of Subspace and there was uproar when it was first discovered because Ridley amongst all the playable characters.

Does anyone know if the 41 stage part of the rumor is true?
I doubt that it is true, I think it will be closer to mid 40s possibly even to 50.
I'm thinking the 35 characters are the final roster. Looking at the character selection screen, it doesn't seem more characters will fit. More character would also throw the arrangement.
Of course the 35 character roster is final, they unlocked All-Star mode. Anyone who doesn't think it is the final roster is sadly in denial, its harsh but its true.
As for the stages, they just unlocked "Big Blue" from SSBM.
35 characters...disapointing..
