I was wondering if anyone's purchased a game system at Walmart and gotten their extended warranty that kicks in after the manufactures warranty expires>
If so let me know how it's worked for you if you've had to have any repaired on the system.
2 year warranty on the 40gb PS3 for something like $26

i bought the extended 2 year on my wii, on an impulse, i should have known nothing ever goes wrong with nintendos stuff, which is good
havent had to use it yet, heck i dont even know where the paperwork is...i will have to tear the house down if anything happens to my wii
I bought the warranty on the Wii also at a gamestop store and I think it cost me something like $34. I generally buy the warranties though even if the machines have good records of quality, because you really never know what might happen, plus some good advice from sc7 pretty much convinced me that an extended warranty was a good idea.

To everyone, what my advice primarily was, was that a machine such as the Playstation 3 is so complex, that you never know how things could fare down the road. There are isolated BD-ROM drive incidents here and there, which some have come after a year has passed (Sony's warranty), as well as you never know when a firmware update may become a brick.
I really reccomend warranties if they're sub 20% of the cost, and the item is $400+.
For me it depends on the cost of the product and the cost and length of the extended warranty. We don't have a Wal-Mart here so we just have to make sure we use a shop that is reliable and is known to have great after-purchase customer service.
I got one at best buy, and I think it was about 30 bucks. It extends it about 2 years, I think.
It was all being paid on a gift card, so I didn't think twice.
That being said, I think, if it is an item you are going to use daily and hold dear (Wii) you are paying for piece of mind.
I'd have to hear walmart's terms and conditions. Are they going to just swap Wii's if you have a problem? Will they have the ability to transfer files and downloads in store? Gotta know what you're getting.

When I called Best Best and asked them how much their warranty would cost me on the product I'm looking at, they told me it was something like $64 for two years.
